Bandit did really well at the Richland Kennel Club show in Kennewick of the weekend. He picked up 2 points under judge Harold "Red" Tatro III on Saturday, September 26th by going best of winners. He then picked up another point under judge Wayne Morris Thompson on Sunday, September 27th by going best of winners again. Bandit is now pending 7 points towards his CH title with one 4 point major he picked up his first time in the classes at a specialty. I couldn't be more proud of what we've accomplished so far with just 3 weekends out together. I will continue to cherish my time with him.

Waylon and his nephew, Bandit also participated in the field trials. Bandit didn't seem very sure of himself but he was definitely interested. I feel like he'll do great once he understands the goal. He was picking up all kinds of scent trails and following them left and right as we beat brush, but just didn't seem to know what to do when it was his turn to run. It was a great experience for him though and I look forward to seeing how he does next time.
Waylon was the bye dog on Saturday but unfortunately seemed to struggle in the grass where I released him (or maybe I'm making excuses 😅) but either way, we dropped the ball on that one. He and Bandit ended up braced together Sunday. When I let them go, Waylon had his own ideas about where to track and didn't make it to his check. The judge asked if they even knew what a rabbit smelled like, which was pretty embarrassing. It looked like Waylon was working a line, just not the one that was staked unfortunately. Bandit seemed to kind've just follow Waylon which I was a little afraid he would do.
We may not have come home with any points or ribbons, but we had fun and gained experience. That's what's most important to me. On another positive note, all three of them had excellent recall. I truly enjoy getting to see this breed in action and can't wait to do it again. We've got so much to learn and gotta find a place locally to practice. 😅

Rowdy got to experience her first field trial this past weekend. We casted on Saturday and she was a little slow to pick up a scent to work but she did do a little bit, just not much. On Sunday, she actually saw a rabbit and went to the end of her lead and started wagging her tail excitedly. When it was her turn, she was slower than her brace mate to find and work the trail. She was thorough and slow about following it but I was very excited to see her improve from the day before. Her brace mate ended up taking 1st on Sunday! Rowdy has had very limited outings, but she seemed to handle it really well and seemed to enjoy herself.
Very thankful to my friend who invited us and those who helped me out so I could participate! Looking forward to more trials in the future.

Cascade Dachshund Club really puts on a great specialty! This was my second year going, with last year having been my first ever entry at a specialty. Waylon was the only dog I brought that weekend. I had huge hopes for him, but ended up came away feeling like I was in over my head. There were so many great people there to encourage me though... and I am very glad they did. This year, Waylon entered their ring for his second time out a special, both times being at a specialty - and boy did he make me proud! This past Saturday, Waylon pulled off his first Best of Variety win in a lovely line up under Judge Justin Dannenbring. 💜💛❤️

This gave his dam GCH DC GRD's V Moonlight's Bright N Bubbly Mercier MW (Merci) her ROMX title! Congratulations to Dana and Denise!!!

It was incredibly special to see many of the folks from last year were able to share my excitement and congratulate me this year. I feel it would have been very easy to be discouraged without their guidance and encouragement. My gratitude goes out to each and everyone involved in this community who has been willing to guide me along, I am truly thankful for each of you. Huge congratulations to everyone else and their accomplishments this weekend as well! It is truly inspiring to see such beautiful competition and certainly wouldn't want to be in the judges shoes.

CH GRD's Star Spangled Ramblin Man MW FDC BCAT (pending FITB) is bred by and co-owned with Dana and Denise Gehring of Grand River Dachshunds. He is primarily owner handled by Arianna Jarrett of Invading Dachshunds.
