Sweet Acres had a wonderful time this morning showing at the Gray Horse Farm Jumper Show!

Finley and Cleopatra Queen of the Nile gave it their absolute best in some very competitive classes, and for their first outing together, they absolutely blew all expectations out of the water!

🌟 In their X-Rail class, they placed 3rd for optimum time.
🌟 In the Pre-Novice Children’s Division, they earned 3rd, 2nd, and 1st respectively, scooping up a Grand Champion ribbon for the division!

We’re so proud of you, Finley and Cleo!!! Sweet Acres is absolutely elated to continue growing as a barn and to offer more exciting outings like this to our eager students.

Huge thank you to our supportive barn family and students, we can’t wait for the next adventure!

Dear Sweet Acres clients, volunteers, friends and staff,

We want to make everyone aware of a recent confirmed case of Equine Herpesvirus-1 (EHV-1) in Culpeper, Virginia, and the precautions we are taking to keep our horses safe.

What is EHV-1?
EHV-1 is a highly contagious virus that affects horses. It can present in several ways, including:

Respiratory illness (fever, nasal discharge, coughing)

Neurological disease (incoordination, weakness, difficulty standing)

Abortion in pregnant mares

The neurological form is the most serious and can be life-threatening. The virus spreads easily through horse-to-horse contact, shared equipment, and can be carried on clothing, shoes, and hands.

Effective immediately, we are implementing the following biosecurity protocols:

Foot baths (diluted bleach) must be used before entering the barn.

Please wash or sanitize your hands frequently, especially between horses.

Avoid touching horses’ faces and noses, as this is a primary transmission route.

If you have horses at home, visit other barns, or work with an outside trainer:

Please wear a separate set of clothing and shoes when coming to Sweet Acres.

Shower before arriving, if possible.

Disinfect clothing and equipment prior to entering the property.

Please share this message with your outside trainer so they are aware of our protocols.

Additional precaution:

We ask that you please refrain from taking horses off property at this time unless discussed and approved. This helps minimize risk to all horses in our program.

These precautions are critical in helping us protect our lesson horses and boarders. While this virus is serious, proactive biosecurity is one of the most effective ways to prevent its spread.

We truly appreciate everyone’s cooperation and diligence in keeping our horses healthy and safe. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Thank you,
Sweet Acres Farm

We had a fun day of riding at Sweet Acres, and it ended in the sweetest way.
The Girl Scouts were here and helped us celebrate Lila’s birthday with a full Happy Birthday song.
Such a special moment for her 🎂

Woohoo! Our students had a fun-fun Friday doing some canter poles and jump schooling!

Welcome, Birdie 🐴

We’re so excited to have him join our barn family. There’s just something about him already… we have a feeling he’s going to be a favorite around here.

We’re looking forward to getting to know him, watching him settle in, and seeing all of our students connect with him in their own way 🤍

Please remember he is in Quarantine...do not visit him without permission.
