Compass Rose Orientals

Compass Rose Orientals CompassRose Orientals founders Compass Rose catkids. Post your stories and pictures. Share yours! We generally have one litter of kittens each, per year.

Compass Rose Orientals and Siamese, we are a small in-home hobby cattery. Our breeding program is shared with KuKi Orientals, my sister and niece. Our cats/kittens are registered in TICA and can be registered in CFA and ACFA if new owners wish. Each litter of kittens are a wonderful gift we plan and anxiously await. All of the litters born at Compass Rose or KuKi are carefully planned to be health

y, loving, and to bring out the best traits of the parents, the cats in their pedigrees with the intent to improve the breed based on the written Standard for Orientals. The cats continue to be our responsibility throughout their lives, so we want to keep in contact with the people who have our catkids.

I’ve had serious concerns about this for the past 12-15 years and here it is.

We spend big bucks on our pets, and those dollars are drawing private equity firms to jump into veterinary services.

FIP is no longer a death diagnosis. Now there is veterinary support in learning treatment.
Positive outcomes during the past 2-5 years.

Wonderful news.
Don was the person who hired me to work for CFA in 2001, as a contract consultant, and very quickly, converted me to full time employee for the following 13.5 years.
Upon Don’s passing, I was voted to succeed him as President of the CFA Foundation and Historical Museum. My deepest appreciation to Don as a mentor.

From CFA President Rich Mastin:

I am pleased to announce that the CFA Executive Board has posthumously bestowed the Medal of Honor, CFA’s highest and most esteemed award, on Judge Emeritus Donald J. (Don) Williams for his outstanding contributions to the cat fancy.
Don, who passed away on November 17, 2025, was first elected to the CFA Board in 1977 and served almost continuously until 2004, including 14 years as CFA President. During his tenure as President, Don attended an organizational meeting of what would become the World Cat Congress, of which CFA is a founding member.

He was recently recognized for his 60 years of service as a CFA judge.

Don was dedicated to preserving the history of the cat fancy and was instrumental in the founding of the CFA Foundation. He joined the Foundation’s Board in 2006 and served as its President from 2018 until his passing.

The Medal of Honor will be presented to Don’s family at his memorial service in May 2026.

Beautiful.

This is the BLACK SERVAL — The Panther-Like Wildcat You’ve Never Seen! 😲

This striking cat from Africa is a melanistic serval, meaning its fur produces excess dark pigment, giving it a sleek black coat instead of the usual golden one with spots.

These rare cats are nocturnal hunters, using their long legs and huge ears to stalk rodents, birds, and insects through tall grass.

✨ Fun Fact: Melanism is the opposite of albinism — and while rare, it gives animals like this serval a mysterious, shadow-like beauty.

My brother came to visit for a week for Thanksgiving holiday. Each evening he’d sit in the recliner watching TV. Violet enjoyed sitting on his lap and wouldn’t allow the other cats to come around them. He left to go home Monday, and Violet is missing him terribly. She’s taken to bringing her favorite stuffed baby (LambChop) that she’s had since birth, and curling up in the recliner on the heating pad. She’s taken never paid attention to the chair before. I dare say she misses my brother.
