Jack Russell Rescue CA

Jack Russell Rescue CA (Tax ID #81-4219561) Our mission is rooted in compassion: to save the dogs who are too often misunderstood, overlooked, or simply out of time.

Jack Russell Rescue California (JRRCA) is a community of volunteers dedicated to giving unwanted, abandoned, and at-risk Jack Russell Terriers a second chance at life. Every Jack Deserves a Chance

Jack Russell Rescue CA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming Jack Russell Terriers throughout California. We work every day to make sure that no Jack Russell Terri

er is left behind — regardless of age, health, or circumstance. How We Help
Across California, shelters are overwhelmed with dogs needing care. When a Jack Russell Terrier arrives, shelter staff often call us first. By stepping in, we help shelters free up valuable space for other dogs in need while giving these smart, high-energy terriers a second chance. We also take in dogs that some might consider “unadoptable” — seniors, those with medical challenges, or dogs needing a little extra time and patience. With experienced volunteers and compassionate foster homes, these dogs receive the love, structure, and stability they deserve while waiting for the right forever home. Sometimes, a dog’s journey begins with an owner who can no longer keep them. We understand that life changes happen — and rather than see a beloved pet surrendered to a shelter, we accept owner surrenders directly. Breeders and breed clubs also refer owners to us when a Jack Russell needs rehoming. The Heart of Our Rescue
Our foster homes are the heart and soul of what we do. Every dog that comes into rescue is welcomed into a home — not a kennel — where they can decompress, heal, and begin to trust again. Our foster families provide the daily care, companionship, and structure that help each dog rediscover joy. Behind every rescue is a network of volunteers who transport dogs, arrange vet care, process adoptions, and support new adopters. Many have been exactly where our adopters are — ready to love a Jack Russell but also aware that these bright, bold dogs require understanding and patience. Why It Matters
Jack Russells are remarkable dogs — clever, loyal, athletic, and endlessly curious — but their high energy and strong hunting instincts can sometimes make them a challenge in the wrong environment. That’s where we come in. We match each dog carefully with an adopter who understands the breed’s needs and will give them the active, loving life they were born for. When you donate, foster, or volunteer, you’re not just saving a dog — you’re giving them a home, a purpose, and a future. How You Can Help
We rely entirely on donations and volunteer support to fund our rescue work. Every contribution helps pay for medical care, vaccinations, spay/neuter surgeries, food, transportation, and the comforts that help each Jack feel safe and loved. Whether you give, foster, adopt, or share our mission, you’re part of a compassionate community that believes every Jack Russell Terrier deserves their chance to thrive.

🚨 SENIOR DOG URGENTLY NEEDS A FOSTER OR ADOPTER 🚨

Meet Buddy ❤️

Buddy is a 13-year-old Jack Russell Terrier currently sitting in the shelter after being surrendered through no fault of his own. His family gave up on him after he began having accidents in the house — but no veterinary evaluation was done to determine if there was an underlying medical issue causing it.

This sweet senior deserves so much better.

Buddy has lived with multiple large dogs and has reportedly always been friendly with both people and children. Everyone who has met him describes him as sweet and social. Despite his age, he still has love left to give and deserves comfort, safety, and kindness in his senior years.

The person trying to help him cannot take him due to an incompatible dog at home, but she is willing to help financially with pulling him from the shelter and assisting with food or veterinary care to help him land safely in a loving home.

Please don’t let Buddy spend his final years scared and alone in a shelter kennel.

✅ Male
✅ Neutered
✅ Vaccinated
✅ Friendly with people and children
✅ Previously lived with other dogs
✅ Senior sweetheart needing a soft landing

If you can foster, adopt, or even help network Buddy, please reach out immediately. Senior dogs are so often overlooked, but they are some of the most loving companions imaginable.

Buddy deserves a second chance. 🐾

Village!

We need help getting Breezy from the Bay Area to Westminster, CA in Orange County.

Her family member can drive part of the way from the Bay Area but her new mom is unable to drive.

Anyone traveling south?

Their world completely changed.
And they don’t know why.

We see their quietness as coping or relaxing so we can accidentally expect too much, far too soon.

One of the hardest parts with newly rehomed dogs is their stress doesn’t always look dramatic.
We would recognise that easily, but some dogs become extremely still and quiet.

Some follow people constantly.
Some sleep more.
Some avoid all interactions.
Others become busy, mouthy, overexcited or unsettled.

We have a job to do from the second they arrive and it’s not about training.
It should be far more about observation.

We should be watching.
Learning who they are.
Recognising patterns.
Seeing what changes their emotional state.

What startles them?
What helps them relax?
What environments suddenly change their body language?
When do they seek distance?
What happens around food, visitors, handling or rest?

They are telling us who they are and how they are coping, often as clearly as they can and we have a duty to listen.

One thing nearly all rehomed dogs share? It’s incredibly easy to unintentionally overwhelm them.

And it’s usually done with the very best of intentions.

Location: Glendora, CA

Betty is a smart, funny little terrier looking for someone who appreciates the deeper bond that comes from earning the trust of a sensitive dog. Once comfortable, Betty is affectionate, playful, loves belly rubs, and has a goofy side that will make you laugh every day. And she loves a good car ride!

Betty does best as the queen of her home and would rather not share it with others. So no dogs, cats or children. She prefers a quiet household without too many comings and goings.

If you think you may be the person for Betty, please reach out to Jack Russell Rescue CA at [email protected] and complete an adoption application

URGENT: Loving Foster or Forever Home Needed for Sweet Senior Jack Russell

Please help us find a soft landing for Breezy, a darling 15-year-old female Jack Russell Terrier who has just lost the person she loved most.

Breezy belonged to her devoted mom, who sadly passed away last week. Her mom was deeply involved in rescue work for many years, helping transport countless dogs to safety and loving homes. Breezy herself was rescued in 2020 and became her mom’s constant companion and best friend.

Now this sweet senior girl needs someone to give her the same love and comfort for her golden years.

ABOUT BREEZY:
🐾 15-year-old spayed female Jack Russell
🐾 Fully vaccinated, heartworm negative, and on prevention
🐾 House trained
🐾 Loves car rides (especially in her booster seat so she can see out the window!)
🐾 Great with other dogs, especially calm or smaller companions
🐾 Friendly, affectionate, and loves meeting new people
🐾 Does the cutest little happy dance when treats or meals are involved
🐾 Sweet, adaptable, and happiest just being near her person

A FEW THINGS TO KNOW:
Breezy is a senior girl, so she has some age-related quirks:
• Mostly deaf
• Mild early kidney changes
• Small growth on one paw that occasionally causes discomfort
• Slight wobbliness in one back leg from an old injury

Despite all of that, Breezy still perks up for snacks, enjoys wandering the yard, naps in sunny spots, and absolutely lights up for love and attention.

HER IDEAL HOME:
A calm, quiet home where she can be spoiled, loved, and enjoy her retirement years. She’d do best with someone home often, as she’s used to being a constant companion.

This is not a difficult-dog surrender. Breezy is deeply loved, and her family is heartbroken to have to make this decision.

If you can foster or adopt Breezy — or know someone with a soft spot for sweet senior dogs — please reach out.

Please share to help this precious girl find the loving home her mom would have wanted for her. ❤️
