An update on Sarah and Winifred: The girls are both nursing reliably now. While Winifred is smaller, both kittens are very active and vocal. Teeth are coming in and they may begin on some mushy food within the next week or so. We think they're almost ready to begin using litter trays as they are being mindful to leave their bedding before they potty. Since bottle feeding is such a messy task, they get baths each day and love being dried under the hair dryer! We finally got this photo after a play session. We have to wait until they pass out to catch them being still! Oh, and the cardboard just helps to keep them from trying to squeeze out through the door of their cage.

And then there were two. Sadly, little Mary wasn't able to overcome the effects of hypothermia she suffered last week. However, Sarah and Winifred are now eating reliably from a bottle and exploring every inch of turf we allow them to. Their engines have kicked in and they are full of purrs whenever we touch them. We are cautiously optimistic that these little ladies will survive.

As an update of our 9 am post; 3 of the 4 abandoned kittens remain. They are being bottle fed every few hours and seem to be good little eaters! One of our experienced staff members will be taking them home to continue their care 24 / 7 until they are weaned and old enough to be placed in homes.
