🎃🐈‍⬛ It’s October, so we obviously have to give our black cats a little extra love and appreciation! 🖤 Here are a few fun facts about our feline friends that you might not know:

☀️ Sun-kissed fur: Some black cats develop reddish-brown highlights in their coats after spending time in the sun!

🐅 Undercover tabbies: Some black cats have faint stripes or swirls hidden beneath their dark coats. You might spot them in the right lighting!

🐾 Toe bean twins: Many black cats have black or dark gray paw pads to match their gorgeous coats!

👀 A colorful stare: Black cats can have green, yellow, gold, or copper-colored eyes!

Black cats are full of surprises, and we think they deserve to be celebrated all year long, not just spooky season! 🧡🐈‍⬛

Do you have a black cat at home? We’d love to see your best friend in the comments!

🦷 What’s Hiding Beneath the Gums?

A tooth can look healthy during a regular oral exam while significant disease is hiding beneath the gumline. Dental radiographs allow us to see the parts of the tooth we can’t see with the naked eye, including the roots and surrounding bone. These in-clinic photos highlight this, showing you what the eye cannot quite see.

Radiographs can reveal bone loss, infection, root damage, and other abnormalities that may make an extraction necessary—even when the tooth looks relatively normal during the initial exam.

Identifying and removing unhealthy teeth helps eliminate sources of pain and infection and allows the remaining teeth and surrounding tissues to stay healthier. By using dental radiographs to find hidden disease and perform necessary extractions, we can help improve your pet’s oral health both now and long-term. 🐾🦷

Regular dental evaluations with full-mouth radiographs are an important part of keeping those pearly whites healthy!

😸Happy National Good Neighbor Day!😸

Being a good neighbor means looking out for both the people and pets in our community! Here are three simple ways you and your pet can be good neighbors:

🐕 1. Use your leash!
Even the friendliest pets can encounter situations they aren’t prepared for. Keeping your pet leashed helps prevent them from running into traffic, getting lost, or approaching another pet who may be fearful, anxious, or reactive.

🐾 2. Mind your distance!
Not every pet is comfortable meeting unfamiliar animals. Giving other pets plenty of space can help prevent stressful or unwanted interactions. Always check with the other owner before allowing your pet to approach theirs, and respect their wishes if they’d rather keep their distance!

🩺 3. Routine Veterinary Care!
Routine exams, vaccinations, and preventative care help keep your pet healthy while also protecting the pets around them. When more pets are vaccinated, there are fewer opportunities for certain diseases to spread throughout the community—a concept known as herd immunity.

A little consideration can go a long way toward creating a safer, healthier, and happier community for everyone! ❤️🐶🐱
