🤍🐾 SAME DOGS. DIFFERENT LIVES. THIS IS WHAT TIME, PATIENCE, AND PURPOSE CAN DO. 🐾🤍
Watching Boone (black and white) and Spud (fluffy boy playing) play with Boomer (orange and white) in this video might not seem like anything extraordinary. But if you knew these boys when they first came to us, you’d understand just how incredible this moment really is. 🥹
BOONE’S STORY 🤍
When Boone arrived, he was scared, extremely reactive on leash and through fences, and struggling with new people and other dogs. He had been wearing a shock collar around the clock, and it was clear he was having a hard time navigating the world around him.
On day one, I spent over SIX HOURS sitting with Boone, slowly earning his trust. Eventually, he let me pet him. From there, we took things one step at a time, giving him the time and space he needed to feel safe.
Look at him now. He loves people, loves other dogs, and his confidence has absolutely skyrocketed.
Boone didn’t need to be written off. He needed someone willing to see past his fear and help him feel safe enough to let his true personality shine. ❤️
SPUD’S STORY 🐾
Spud came to us shut down, nervous, and unsure of the world. He had spent much of his life in a backyard, with limited exposure to new experiences. He was nervous around men, didn’t know how to play with other dogs, and seemed unsure of what he was supposed to do.
Then we started discovering who Spud really is.
We recently introduced him to our goats, and he absolutely LOVED them! The goats already adore him, and his livestock guardian instincts are incredible. As he’s gained confidence and found something that gives him purpose, we’ve also watched him become more comfortable with new people and start playing with other dogs.
And now, here he is. Playing. Exploring. Making friends. Just being a dog. 🥹
These two boys are reminders of something we wish more people understood:
Sometimes, what looks like aggression is fear. Sometimes, what looks like a difficult dog is a dog who doesn’t feel safe. And sometimes, a dog who’s been shut down simply hasn’t had the opportunity to discover what they’re capable of.
Boone needed time, patience, and trust. Spud needed confidence, new experiences, and a purpose that came naturally to him.
Neither dog changed overnight. They needed someone willing to look beyond where they started and believe in where they could go.
This is why we do what we do. Not just to find dogs homes, but to give them the chance to become the dogs they were always meant to be. 🤍🐾
