Confidence, freedom, and safety start with training. Training your dog builds confidence for both you and your four-legged partner, giving you the freedom to explore and enjoy more together. Pair that training with reflective gear and visibility essentials to help keep your dog seen, safe, and ready for every adventure. Because protecting your best friend means setting them up for success, both through training and the right gear.

Loving people is a great quality for a potential Therapy Dog, but there’s more to the job than being friendly.

Therapy Dogs need to remain calm, confident, and dependable around unfamiliar people, environments, sounds, and distractions.

Dog Training Elite Twin Cities helps dogs and handlers build the skills needed for Therapy Dog work.

Service Dog training is never one-size-fits-all.

Medical Alert Dogs may be individually trained to alert their handler to specific physiological changes related to their disability. The exact task depends on the handler’s needs and what the dog has been trained to recognize and do.

That reliability takes careful training, repetition, and a strong partnership between dog and handler.

Repeating the same command over and over doesn’t automatically make it stronger.

Effective practice has structure. Your dog needs a clear expectation, good timing, and consistent follow-through so they can understand what you’re asking and repeat the right behavior.

Practice with intention, not just repetition.

New people and new places don’t have to feel so overwhelming. 🐾💙

With George’s guidance, Paul has been building confidence, working through his anxiety around unfamiliar people, and making incredible progress along the way.

A more confident Paul means a happier, more relaxed life together—and we love seeing it!

Way to go, Paul!

Fall is a natural reset point: new routines, cooler weather, and a fresh chance to get consistent with the basics.

Use the change of season to revisit the skills your dog already knows and practice them in everyday situations.

Some dog behaviors can feel a little spooky this time of year.

Door charging. Toy guarding. Selective hearing around distractions. Pulling on leash. Howling at everything outside.

But instead of writing them off as your dog’s personality, it may be worth asking: What skill is missing here?

Identifying the gap gives you something you can actually work on.

No tricks. Just training from Dog Training Elite Twin Cities.

REAL-LIFE TRAINING MEANS PRACTICING THE CHAOS!

Six dogs. Lots of distractions. One big learning opportunity!

In this drill, dogs and handlers practice walking toward one another while navigating the kind of chaos we encounter in everyday life. From reactive dogs to service dogs to beloved family pets, every dog and handler team has something to learn!

It’s not just about teaching our dogs how to behave around distractions. It’s about teaching owners how to communicate clearly with their dogs, read body language, stay engaged, and work together with other handlers to create safe, successful interactions.

Because real life doesn’t happen in a quiet training room. It happens on sidewalks, in public spaces, around other dogs, and in unexpected moments. We practice the chaos here so you can navigate it with more confidence out there!

🍂 A little seasonal update! 🍂
Our group classes will be wrapping up soon for the season, but don’t worry — we’ll be back this spring! If you are looking for group training, don't hesitate to still call us for dog training. Starting your in-home sessions soon could put you on track to transition into group classes shortly after completing your private training!

Sometimes a calm presence can make a meaningful difference.

Therapy Dogs can provide comfort and connection in a variety of settings, from spending time with seniors to visiting schools, hospitals, and community organizations.

Their job isn’t to perform a medical task. It’s to be a trained, dependable presence for the people they meet.

Name recognition, focus, and basic commands are a great start. But puppy training doesn’t stop once your dog learns “sit.”

The next step is building consistency and helping those skills hold up around distractions and in everyday life.
