🚨MINNESOTA BLACK HISTORY W/ Jonathan Mason

Bulldozed. Paved. Renamed "progress."

America didn't just segregate Black communities. It erased them with federal money.

Under the 1949 Housing Act and the 1956 Federal-Aid Highway Act, city planners mapped highways straight through thriving Black neighborhoods. Homes, churches, and Black-owned businesses were flattened. Entire districts, from Overtown in Miami to Rondo in St. Paul, were cut apart or wiped out.

The official name? "Urban renewal."

James Baldwin said it plainly in 1963: "Urban renewal... means Negro removal."

Hundreds of thousands of families were displaced. Generational wealth vanished overnight. And the highways that replaced them still stand today.

So here's the question: was it planning, or was it policy by design?

Young Black man detained in front of his friends just standing there for allegedly having a gun on him.

White conservatives will weaponize the police every step of the way because they hate Black and Brown people.
