If your dog has been professionally groomed consistently for over a year and their coat still isn’t where you want it, the grooming frequency is probably not the problem.
This is one of the most common situations new KLŌS clients describe when they first come in. The dog has been groomed regularly, every six, seven, eight weeks, for months or years. The results are consistent. Consistently not quite right.
The coat never gets ahead of itself. It looks acceptable at pickup and gradually deteriorates back to the same state before the next appointment. The texture hasn’t really changed. The skin concern that has been present for months hasn’t resolved. Something in the cycle is stuck, and adding more appointments to the same cycle does not unstick it.
What actually changes the outcome in these situations is almost never the frequency. It is the protocol.
Specifically, whether the products being used are matched to this dog’s actual skin type and coat profile. Whether the conditioning sequence is completing correctly. Whether the drying technique is preserving coat structure or compromising it. Whether there is a therapeutic element addressing what is happening at the skin level, not just the coat surface. And whether each appointment is building on an informed assessment of what changed since the last one or simply repeating the same service regardless of what the coat is communicating.
When the protocol is right, matched to the individual dog, informed by what the assessment reveals, and applied with the correct products in the correct sequence, coats that have been stuck for a year begin to move. Not immediately. But measurably. Consistently. In a direction that compounds with every subsequent visit.
If your dog’s coat has been stuck and you have not been able to identify why, that is the conversation a KLŌS skin and coat assessment is designed to start.
