Karen didn’t set out simply to train dogs — she set out to understand them.

Long before founding Training with Karen, Karen spent countless hours observing dogs, studying behavior, and learning how communication between humans and animals truly works. That curiosity eventually grew into a professional training career focused on helping dogs and their owners build clear communication, trust, and real-world reliability.

Based in Sussex County, Delaware, Karen works with puppies, adolescent dogs, and adult dogs through structured programs that focus on confidence, boundaries, and practical obedience that carries over into everyday life. Her philosophy is simple: dogs thrive when they understand what is expected of them and when their owners have the tools to guide them fairly and consistently.

But training dogs is only one part of who Karen is.

Karen has always been deeply connected to the natural world. In her free time she enjoys gardening, raising butterflies, hiking local trails, and practicing herbalism. She is also an avid photographer and is rarely without a camera, capturing the moments that happen during training sessions, walks along the Delaware coast, or quiet mornings outdoors.

Friends and neighbors know Karen as someone who is always willing to help — whether it’s offering advice, lending a hand, or sharing knowledge she’s learned along the way. That same spirit carries into her training work, where her goal is not only to help dogs succeed, but to help their owners feel confident and supported throughout the process.

Through Training with Karen, she has helped many families build stronger relationships with their dogs, creating animals that are not just trained for commands, but prepared to live successfully in the real world.

For Karen, training dogs has never been just a job.

It is part of a much larger life centered around learning, nature, community, and the bond between people and their animals.

Struggling with your dog's big feelings?

You're not alone. One small shift can spark huge progress.

Next time your pup gets anxious in public, pause and reward even one second of calm. Yes, just one! That moment is gold. Every calm second builds their confidence—and yours.

Ever wish your reactive dog could relax? One small pause can change everything.

Next time you walk down a busy pet store aisle, stop. Take a breath. Reward your dog for any moment of calm—even if it’s just a glance. This tiny pause helps both of you reset, and teaches your dog that calm is worth celebrating.

Want to see this in action? Let’s talk about your dog’s next big win. 🐾

Duke is certainly living the life!

This little guy is living his best life. He is a year and a half old now with his training more than a year behind him.

I am so proud of all of his progress and cannot wait for his family to let me play with him again.

Miss you Dukers!

From fear to backyard joy in Delaware.

Six weeks ago, Max wouldn’t step outside without barking or bolting. Today, he leans into his owner’s arms, calm and proud—blue cap and all.

It wasn’t magic. It was patience, practice, and trust—built together, one small step at a time.

Curious if your anxious pup could find this kind of peace? Send me a message. 🐾

Thank you for trusting me with your journey.

🕷️ Tick season is here.

After walks, check your dog — ears, collar, toes, and tail.

Ticks are tiny, but the diseases they carry aren’t.

Have you already found ticks this spring?

Reactive dog? You’re not failing. Promise.

Ever feel like you’re the only one holding your breath on walks? I’ve been there, coffee mug and all.

Here’s the truth. Lasting change starts with your mindset—and you’re stronger than you think.
