Asheville Dog Academy is a family owned and operated team here to help you dramatically increase the quality of life between you and your beloved 4-legged family member. Are you tired of having all the frustrations that come with not being able to effectively communicate with your dog? Does your dog:
* jump like a wild animal on people?
* bolt through doors?
* drag you down your block on a walk?
* act like he/she lost his/her hearing once you take off the leash?
* steal food off the counter or garbage?
* beg at the dinner table?
* bark at times you need him to be quiet?
* dig holes the size of the Grand Canyon? Wouldn’t it be nice to have a happy, well-behaved, mannerly dog who listens on and off leash and knows how to calm down when he or she needs to, regardless of what’s going on? Wouldn’t it be great to Experience the Joy of A Well-Behaved Dog?

Gordo is a 6-yrs old over 90lbs Pit Bull whose owners drove from 2 hours away to get him help. And when he arrived, we quickly understood why.

At 2 years old, Gordo witnessed his littermate sister tragically get hit and killed by a car. His owners noticed his behavior changed after that day.

What started as barking at people eventually escalated into serious aggression.

His owner Jessica became afraid to walk him because she couldn't physically hold him back. Even her boyfriend Christian struggled.

When Gordo arrived, he looked like an experienced protection dog at the end of that leash. He showed intense, forward aggression toward anyone in sight and was willing to bite.

Fortunately, his owners had prevented anyone from being bitten.

Because of the severity, we started addressing his aggression immediately.

And after just ONE HOUR of training, something remarkable happened!

On their drive home, a motorcyclist pulled up beside them at a red light. Normally, this would have sent Gordo into an absolute frenzy.

But this time? He simply watched calmly, even while the motorcyclist talked to him!

Jessica and Christian were ASTOUNDED! Jessica even sent us a video because she couldn't believe it.

The next day, they took Gordo to the park, where he showed none of his usual reactions to people and dogs.

Then came session TWO!

Gordo returned looking at us completely differently. We still took precautions and wore protective equipment because his previous aggression was nothing to take lightly.

But as the session progressed, he continued showing us he was comfortable.

And here you see me PETTING a dog who had been trying to bite us just one session earlier! ❤️

Is Gordo finished with training? Absolutely not. We still have work ahead to make these changes reliable in different situations.

But what an extraordinary transformation after just ONE initial session!

For Jessica and Christian, this means the possibility of getting their freedom back and enjoying life with Gordo again.

THIS is why we do what we do! Stay tuned for more updates on Gordo

Remember Jayce? The 5-year-old Cur mix who came to us with a history of aggression?

Well, take a look at her now!

Not long ago, Jayce was trying to bite us. Now she's out in public, meeting new people, accepting affection, and handling situations that would have been extremely difficult for her before.

For years, Jayce's aggression has limited what her family could comfortably do with her. Something as simple as inviting friends over or taking her out in public was a major concern.

And that's what makes this progress so meaningful. This isn't just about getting Jayce to stop unwanted behavior. It's about giving her and her family their lives back.

More freedom. More confidence. More opportunities to enjoy life together without constantly worrying about what might happen.

The progress she's made in just a handful of training sessions has been incredible.

Dogs with a history of aggression don't necessarily have to spend the rest of their lives avoiding people, missing out on experiences, or living in isolation.

The right training can open up a whole new world for both the dog and the people who love them.

Cheers to a better life for Jayce!! We look forward to seeing you all again soon!!

Just a few sessions ago Jacey was trying to bite us and today she actually came towards us to socialize. Jayce is a 5 yrs old cur mix who has been doing sessions with us due to a history of aggression. She has nipped a couple of people in the past and unsuccessfully tried several others. In just a few training sessions everything is turning around. It all started happening at 6 months old due to being attacked by off-leash dogs. And a few years ago it escalated to people. Their goals are to be able to have friends over again and take Jayce to different public places. Shes doing so much better with people and other dogs and it will keep getting better. Stay tuned for more updates to come.

Meet Echo, a 4-year-old Mini Aussie who had struggled with aggression for years.

Despite being on fluoxetine for a couple of years, his behavior continued to get worse.

He had a history of biting, wouldn’t allow people to touch him, had started going after his owner in everyday situations, and his mom had reached the point where they were terrified of what might happen next.

This had become more than an inconvenience. His owner felt like she was running out of options, and euthanasia had become a real concern if something didn’t change.

Through training, muzzle conditioning, safe exposure, and teaching Echo how to successfully navigate normal social pressure, things began to change.

Today, his owner is able to take him into public, people are able to approach and touch him, and many of the aggressive behaviors that controlled their daily life are no longer happening.

This video shows partly of just how far Echo and his owner have come.
