Puppies remember best what they learn early. A position statement on early socialization in puppies by the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior encourages puppies be socialized before the vaccine series is complete. The guidelines state puppies can start socialization classes as early as 8 weeks of age. Two new puppy classes are starting soon! Riley's Angels had 12 Therapy Dog (and TDIT) teams visiting at the Ohio Veterans Home this morning. Our pups "signed" Valentines to give out to the residents and staff. One of our handlers (he's also a veteran) made gift bags for each of the nursing stations. Several of the veterans had Valentine's Day cards to give the pups as well! I'm adding a photo of one that Brooklyn & I received. How appreciative we are of the wonderful veterans and the staff that cares for them!
