Rockie took on SCHEELS today! 🙌 Between the crowds, ALL the smells, people popping out from behind racks, and the Ferris wheel absolutely blowing her mind 😂 there was a lot to work through.

We practiced staying neutral, holding downs and stays, giving her space to make good choices, and learning that she doesn’t need to say hi to everyone she sees. She definitely needed some reminders, but that’s what these outings are for!

Big environments = big distractions = lots of opportunities to train. 💪🐾

Rockie took on Bass Pro today and absolutely rocked it! 🙌 Lots of distractions, weird sounds, smells, moving bridges, elevators, and people: and she worked through all of it.

She still needed a few corrections here and there, but the biggest win is how quickly she’s learning to recover, refocus, and make better choices. A week ago she would’ve been trying to greet everyone she saw… today she stayed much more tuned in and thoughtful. 👏

Long walk, lots of obedience, and some leash-dragging reps today! Rockie had a few moments where she needed a little reminder, but she refocused really well and got right back to work. 👏🏼

She also held place through lunch with only a couple corrections and finished the day with plenty of snuggles and some very appropriate couch time 😂 The goal isn’t just obedience; it’s teaching her how to exist calmly in everyday life, and she’s making so much progress!

One of Rockie’s biggest struggles coming in was greetings; she was WILDLY excited and wanted to jump all over everyone she met. 😂

Now? She’s still excited to see people, but she’s learning how to keep herself together, read the room, and greet without launching herself at everyone. 🙌🏼

Today we had several people over and she did such a good job settling in and just existing around company. Excited doesn’t have to mean out of control, and she’s really starting to understand that. 🥹

Rockie took her training on the road today with a trip to PetSmart! 🐾

We worked on engagement, obedience, and staying neutral around distractions. She definitely had a few moments where the environment won 😂 but she redirected nicely and did a great job tuning back in.

She even handled an unexpected kiddo running up and giving her a hug like a champ! 😅 Overall, I was really happy with how she worked through a busy environment and recovered from distractions. Such good progress from this girl! 👏

I swear I never remember to record midway sessions 😂 But they’re such an important part of the process!

I believe strongly in owners getting hands-on during training; not just being handed a “trained dog” at the end. Midway sessions give owners a chance to see the progress, learn how I’m handling their dog, ask questions, and start practicing everything themselves before go-home. Training works best when everyone is on the same page! 🙌🏼🐾

So naturally, I have zero footage of that today… but here’s a video of cute puppies playing for your viewing pleasure instead. 😂

Day 7 with Miss Rockie! 🥹

Today we took her obedience on the road with a walk, then worked more on distance and duration out in the yard. She also held place through dinner and only broke 2–3 times before settling in like a pro. 🙌

She has come such a long way in just one week, especially with her impulse control and ability to actually settle instead of needing to be involved in everything. 😂 I’m so excited to show her off tomorrow in their midway lesson!
