Friday night fun with Maggie and Goose!

We took the dogs out after work for a bit of exercise. Each of them got some miles in before dark and are loving the ā€œheat waveā€ we are having right now here in Michigan. We are all looking forward to the warmer weather and longer daylight to be able to train later into the evenings.

Had a hunt to remember. Maggie and I got into a flight of woodcock and had 22 woodcock flush and 3 grouse in an 1.5 hour hunt. It was so fun to see her pointing and holding that many birds. At one point I even had to had leave her on point to get more shells. Which when I got back to her the bird promptly flew right over the her not giving me a good shot.

Had a great weekend with some friends on Michigan middle duck opener. Maggieā€™s first duck hunt was a success getting 6 retrieves and recovering 2 different cripples that swam off. Looking forward to the rest of the season!

After a big hunt Saturday we decided to give Maggie the night off and went out with Macy. On her 3rd hunt ever she flushed 1 grouse and 5 woodcock! It was a lot of fun doing things a little different tonight.

Saturday night with Hazel and Vince was a good one! We had 7 grouse and 4 woodcock total for the day. Maggie had 2 great woodcock finds, we just didnā€™t connect on the shots. Hazel did outstanding with a 3 grouse find that we were able to connect on one of them with.

Today was Maggieā€™s first try at goose hunting. We had no luck with the geese but we had some entertainment watching wood...

Here we are the end of training season. Maggie took her second utility test of the year on Friday which was the culmination of our training since March. Though she was not perfect nor was it the best Iā€™ve ever seen her, Iā€™m very proud of how far we have come this year. Her score at the end of the day was a prize 2 180pt. We want to thank everyone at for their help this year. We want to thank them also along with the judges who helped put on the test. We also want to say a huge thank you to our training partner .of.heart.sportingdogs ! Without her help thereā€™s no way we would be where we are. From allowing me to have birds in her pen to bringing launchers and pigeons over we couldnā€™t have done it without her. Finally, I thank God that He allowed me to find this passion that all started from me finding a dog litter on Facebook and here we are. God also placed in on my heart to remember ultimately this passion and the achievements with it will fade away so enjoy it. So now we plan to go hunting starting with goose season so wish us luck!
