Hi friends… my name is Falkor. 🤍
I’m estimated to be around 8 years old, and I’ve spent my whole life navigating a world I’ve never been able to see.
When I was found as a stray at a local animal control, I didn’t know where I was or what was going to happen to me next. I just knew I was alone.
And I was blind.
The humans think I may have been born this way. So while you see darkness when you look at me, I’ve never really known anything different. I learned to find my way with my nose, my ears, my memory… and a whole lot of trust.
But being blind wasn’t the only thing I was fighting.
When BDDC saved me, I was heartworm positive. 💔
But then something happened.
People decided I was worth saving.
BDDC covered my treatment. And while my body fought to heal, my foster opened their home and their heart to me. They cared for me through the hard parts. They kept me safe. They loved me when I was vulnerable. They helped me heal in ways that medicine alone never could.
And now?
I’m heartworm negative.
I am healed. I am healthy.
And I am still waiting. 🥺
Waiting for the person who will look past the fact that I can’t see and realize that being 8 years old does not mean my story is over.
I still have so much life left in me.
I still get excited. I still learn my surroundings. I still love soft beds, gentle hands, kind voices, and knowing my people are close. I still want to be loved. I still want to belong.
Being blind does not mean I am broken.
Being 8 does not mean I am done.
I have already been lost.
I have already been sick.
I have already wondered what would happen to me.
And somehow, I made it through all of that.
Please don’t let my story end with me being overlooked simply because my eyes work differently than yours… or because someone thinks 8 years old is too old to deserve a family.
BDDC and my foster gave me something I desperately needed.
A second chance.
Now I just need someone to give me the one thing I have never truly had…
A forever.
Maybe you could be my eyes.
And maybe… I could be the best thing you never knew you were looking for. 🤍🐾
