Walks, drop-in visits, vacation care, overnights (upon availabilty) and more. I’ve always been an animal lover but, when I moved to Newington, CT in 2011, I decided it was time to actually get involved. As I researched local shelters, I became deeply saddened over just how many animals were homeless. Even worse were the countless stories of abuse and neglect. Being a pet mom to seven dogs and four cats (yes, that's 11 pets!), I felt a deep desire to get out there and make a difference in any way I possibly could. So I began to volunteer for an organization called Dog Days, which hosted a variety of amazing adoption events. Feeling inspired through my work at Dog Days, I kicked up my search for even more volunteer opportunities. A DOG NAMED GEORGE

One day, through a friend’s Facebook post, I read about a dog who lived his long days and nights outside. I placed numerous calls to the Animal Control Officer of the town he was in until something was done to help this forgotten pup. Eventually he was taken into safety by the Wallingford Animal Control. An American Bulldog Mix by the name of George … this little guy stole my heart. During his time at the shelter, we developed a very special connection … and I made it my mission to find him a home! When the day finally came, I was overjoyed and knew that I wanted to take on a more personal role in the lives of the animals I helped. I deeply enjoyed my time at the shelter … it felt like home. I eventually began assisting with their page and even took the lead on performing home visits to ensure each animal was placed in a safe and caring environment. Sadly, George is no longer with us … but his memory is a constant reminder that my work is never done. THE NEXT CHAPTER

After my Dachshund, Daisy, was diagnosed with cancer I decided to explore the field of veterinary medicine. I enrolled in a five month course at Middlesex Community College and participated in rotations at Pieper Memorial in Middletown. It was during this time, I received more devastating news … another one of my beloved Doxies, Bandit, had developed cancer. After completing my coursework to become a Certified Vet Assistant, I put any further aspirations on hold in order to spend as much time as possible with them during the final months of their lives. The grief and heartache I felt over losing my pets was indescribable. However, it helped me validate a purpose I always knew I had … to love, cherish, and save innocent animals. A DOG'S DILEMMA

A Dog’s Dilemma encompasses everything I am at heart. An animal lover. A helper. An extremely hard worker. And a trustworthy friend. Whether it’s taking your dog for a long walk while you’re at work or making sure your cat gets TLC while you go away for a long weekend, I will take the absolute best care of your pet(s) at the times when you can’t. If you’re in need of in-home pet care, I’d love to chat. Because taking a trip or working an extra long shift should not have to create a dilemma.

Here are some words from her beautiful mother regarding this amazing breed:

October is Pit Bull Awareness Month..

Stop listening to the media's amplification of aggressive bully breed stories. Stop jumping on board with the hate, hasty generalization, and false information without knowing firsthand for yourself. Any dog can have a flaw (just as humans). Do not condemn an entire breed for it. If you took the time, you would most likely learn that "flaw" came from a human's treatment or training. Judgements based solely from another's experience or opinion proves flaws in your character more than anything else.

Good morning Everyone ~

I wanted to take a moment to clarify my phone availability for A Dog's Dilemma.
While my pet care services operate between approximately 6 AM and midnight, these are my available service hours and do not necessarily reflect my personal working schedule each day.
Because my business phone is also my personal cell phone, I'm establishing designated phone hours of 7 AM to 7 PM, seven days a week, for general inquiries, scheduling, and nonurgent calls or messages.
Messages received outside these hours will be answered during my next available phone hours. I appreciate your patience, as I may not always be able to respond immediately.
Of course, there is an important exception! If your pets are currently in my care while you're away on vacation or traveling, you will always be able to reach me if needed. The same applies to genuine emergencies involving scheduled pet care.
I absolutely love what I do and appreciate every one of my clients, both current and future. Establishing these boundaries simply allows me to maintain a healthy balance between my business and personal life while continuing to provide the attentive, dependable care your pets deserve.
Thank you all so much for your understanding and continued support!

Jake only gets to hang out with us on Wednesdays, so he missed yesterday’s first-day-of-fall photo fun. 🍂
Of course, we couldn’t leave him out! He officially got his autumn glow-up today and is looking pretty handsome surrounded by all those fall colors. ❤️🍁

Happy first day of Fall 🍂 🍁

In honor of my absolute FAVORITE time of year, I decided all of my pups deserved a little seasonal glow-up today!
With a little help from ChatGPT, we traded our everyday backgrounds for some beautiful fall foliage, pumpkins, mums and leaves — while keeping all of those adorable faces exactly as they are.

I may be just a little excited that fall is finally here. 😂🍁

Happy Fall from A Dog’s Dilemma and some of the sweetest faces I get to spend my days with! 🐾❤️

The hardest part of this job will always be saying goodbye.

Sometimes it’s because a client moves, schedules change, or life simply takes us in different directions.
But the hardest goodbyes are the ones when one of these babies leaves this world, because after caring for them and loving them, they inevitably take a little piece of my heart with them.

This week, I lost two very special little girls.

Olive has been part of my A Dog’s Dilemma family for many years, along with her brother Wally.
I absolutely adore them both, but Olive and I had our own special little relationship. She was my girl. She’d climb into my lap, paw at me for attention, and happily settle in for all the snuggles she could get.
Just last weekend I spent several days caring for Olive and Wally, and unfortunately Olive wasn’t feeling very well or acting herself.
Her family had to make the heartbreaking decision to say goodbye to her two nights ago.
I found out today when I checked in to see how she was doing, and my heart absolutely broke.
I’m going to miss that sweet little girl tremendously.

And then there was Chalupa, the cutest little 18-year-old peanut. I didn’t have nearly as much time with her, but sometimes it doesn’t take years for an animal to find a special place in your heart. I adore her brother Atticus and sister Fawn too, but Chalupa and I just had our own little connection.
Maybe it’s because I have such a soft spot for the little ones and the seniors, or maybe I just tend to fall a little harder for the ones who need me the most. Whatever it was, that tiny girl got me.

Being trusted to care for someone’s animals is one of the greatest privileges of what I do. I get to know them, love them, and eventually most of them become a little bit mine too.

Rest easy, Olive and Chalupa.
You were both so very loved, and this pet sitter is going to miss her two little girls more than I can say.
