🐾❤️ FACES BEHIND THE SCENES ❤️🐾
✨ MEET THE VET: DR. BATES! ✨
There are some pretty amazing things happening behind the doors of Tipton Community Animal Clinic – Brighton… but none of it would be possible without the people who believe in our students and are willing to teach, encourage, and work right alongside them.
Today, we’re introducing one of those very special people — Jill Bates, DVM! 🩺🐶
🎓 TEXAS A&M GRAD
🐾 26.5 YEARS IN VETERINARY MEDICINE
🇺🇸 FORMER U.S. ARMY VETERINARIAN
✂️ LOVES SURGERY & WELLNESS CARE
👩⚕️ MENTORING OUR NEXT GENERATION OF VET PROFESSIONALS
Dr. Bates has wanted to be a veterinarian for as long as she can remember. Her career has taken her through private practices in Shelby and Tipton Counties, relief veterinary medicine in Memphis, and even serving as a U.S. Army Veterinarian at NSA Millington!
But now, part of her story is happening right here with OUR STUDENTS. ❤️
And what did she think when she first walked into our student-run clinic?
👇👇👇
💬 “I was so impressed with the students' knowledge, skills and efficiency on my first visit to the clinic. Many of the students were performing at a higher skill level than I have seen with some of the veterinary assistants I worked with in private practice.”
👏 READ. THAT. AGAIN. 👏
These are HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS.
Our veterinary science interns aren't standing in the corner watching. They are learning veterinary medicine through real patients, real responsibilities, real teamwork, and real hands-on experience under professional supervision.
Dr. Bates works alongside our interns as they help with routine pre-operative and post-operative patient care while learning the skills, professionalism, confidence, and responsibility it takes to work in veterinary medicine.
And for Dr. Bates?
💬 “Working with the next generation of veterinary professionals is very rewarding and a dream come true!”
❤️ We think that makes her a pretty perfect fit for our clinic.
🐾 NOW FOR THE FUN STUFF!
🐶 Favorite Animal: Dogs — especially Australian Cattle Dogs/Blue Heelers!
🐕 Her Crew: Sadie, Jango & Cache
☕ Clinic Fuel: Iced coffee… obviously!
🏔️ Happy Place: Traveling the western states, especially Wyoming
📍 Home: Atoka for 22.5 years
🐄 Plot Twist: She originally planned to become a LARGE ANIMAL VET!
🎓 Her Advice to Future Veterinarians:
Get as much exposure and experience in animal and veterinary science as possible. Work hard. Be a diligent student. And keep those grades up!
And finally, a quote Dr. Bates has remembered since her very first semester of college:
❤️ “People do not care how much you know until they know how much you care.”
That one fits what we do here pretty perfectly.
Dr. Bates isn't just helping us care for animals.
🐾 She's teaching.
❤️ She's encouraging.
🩺 She's sharing 26+ years of experience.
🎓 And she's helping our students discover just how far their future could take them.
Dr. Bates, THANK YOU for believing in our students and helping make this incredible opportunity possible! ❤️🐾
