🥵 Memphis Frenchie Owners 🚨

The remainder of this week is our first hot and humid weather of the season which means be on the lookout for heat stroke signs in your pups!

Breeds like French Bulldogs, Boston Terriers, English Bulldogs, Pugs and other brachycephalic breeds with short/squished noses are particularly at risk of overheating due to their anatomy.

Watch for signs such as
🔥Excessive panting
🔥Thick or excessive drooling
🔥Bright red (think fire engine), super pale or sticky gums
🔥Difficulty walking and stumbling
🔥Collapse
🔥Weakness and lethargy
🔥Body temperature over 104°F

Heat stroke is a medical emergency! If you notice these signs, move your dog to a cool area immediately and seek veterinary care ASAP!

🧊🚫 Tip: Avoid ice baths or extremely cold water as the shock from the extreme temperature change can cause blood vessels to constrict, reducing blood flow to important organs.

When we asked Veterinary Assistant Sophia about the most meaningful interaction she’s had with a client, her answer was easy. After Miss Molly - a blind little Pomeranian - passed away, her family sent Sophia a handwritten letter sharing how much her kindness and love meant to both them and Molly. They wrote that Miss Molly was always happy to visit because she knew she’d get to see someone who truly cared about and loved her.

Sophia framed the letter and keeps it in her room to this day as a reminder of why she does what she does. Sometimes the smallest moments leave the biggest mark.
