No, this isn’t a baby Cerberus, but they ARE the cutest 2-week-old puppy patients that had their very first visit with Dr. Graham! 🥹 They each had their own physical exam and deworming and we can’t wait to see them back when they’re ready to start their puppy vaccines! 🐶

Say hello to Winnie! 🩷 As a brachycephalic (flattened face and shorter skull) mix, Winnie was born with narrowed nostrils that made it harder for her to breathe comfortably. While she was under anesthesia for her spay, her veterinary team also performed a nares surgery to gently widen her nostrils. This small procedure can make a big difference by helping her breathe more easily through her nose, reducing mouth breathing, lowering her risk of overheating, and giving her more energy for the things puppies do best... playing! 🏃‍♀️💨

Please give a warm welcome to Dr. Arthur Rosenthal! 👨🏾‍⚕️🥳

We’re excited to welcome Dr. Arthur Rosenthal to our team at Poplar at Massey! Born and raised right here in Memphis, Dr. Rosenthal’s love for animals started early. From watching Animal Planet on repeat to filling his home with everything from snakes and turtles to parakeets and frogs, veterinary medicine was always the perfect fit.

After earning his undergraduate degree from Morehouse College, he returned home to attend the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine. Today, one of his favorite parts of being a veterinarian is solving medical mysteries and continually learning about new advancements in veterinary medicine to help his patients live healthier lives.

When he’s not at TPH, you’ll probably find him cheering on the Grizzlies, visiting the Memphis Zoo, or checking out a new local restaurant. And if he could have one superpower? Teleportation... because who wouldn’t want to skip traffic and travel anywhere for free? 😉

Be sure to say hello and help us give Dr. Rosenthal a warm Pet Hospitals welcome! We can’t wait for you and your pets to meet him!

Meet Sissy, one of our sweet kidney disease patients who comes in twice a week for subcutaneous (Sub Q) fluids. While these fluids aren’t a cure for kidney disease, they can play an important role in helping pets like Sissy feel their best.

In this video, Veterinary Technician Dakota walks you through the Sub Q fluid process, explains why we administer fluids under the skin, and how this simple treatment helps support pets living with kidney disease.

Healthy kidneys filter waste products and maintain hydration. When the kidneys aren’t working as well as they should, toxins can build up in the bloodstream and pets can become dehydrated more easily. Sub Q fluids provide extra hydration under the skin, where the body gradually absorbs the fluid into the bloodstream. This additional hydration helps support the kidneys’ ability to flush waste products from the body and can improve your pet’s comfort, appetite, and overall quality of life.

Every pet with kidney disease has different needs, which is why treatment plans are tailored to each individual patient. If your dog or cat has been diagnosed with kidney disease, talk with your veterinarian about the options that may help them live a happier, more comfortable life.

From buns at Downtown to scales at Poplar, we’re excited about some exotics! 🤩 Veterinary Assistant Izzie’s gecko had a gecko-sized facial abscess. Dr. Bugg was able to debride it, flush the wound, and start our tiny friend on pain medication and antibiotics! This little friend will be back to selling insurance in no time! 😜🦎
