This was my sweet Katie Bear. She was my soulmate, like Roxie was Ricci's. She went with me on the sits when the weather was nice and was happy to sit in the car and wait there. She had a tremor when we first adopted her from the Memphis Humane Society, which was back when they were on Central. We had just adopted our sweet Abby from there, and we were volunteering to walk dogs when we saw Katie. They said she didn't have a good chance of being adopted because she had a tremor that would make her whole body shake, especially her head, and she was only about 4 or 5 months old. They said she had a huge chain around her neck when they confiscated her, and all she was fed were green beans :( When I took her to the vets, they said she had parvo and wanted to put her down. I took her somewhere else, and they told us to feed her high-protein food. She recovered, and the tremor would only appear when she was tired. She was in her later years in this video.

I have decided not to dissolve my business entirely. I will be selectively taking in dogs into the home. Let me know if you are interested.

Ginger was another dog we adopted from a client who had to go into a rent-controlled place. They wouldn't take her dog's weight, though, and she was supposed to lose 5 pounds! She had to have a special feeding bowl that made her slow down eating; she was so focused on gobbling her food. There was no way she could have done that; it was a lot of weight for such a small dog, and her owner was relieved she would have a good home with us. She had a single-track mind for getting food, finding food (garbage hunting), jumping up on things, stealing from the other dogs, and she was a cutie. She had the silkiest soft ears of any dog we've ever had. She died at a ripe old age. I would love to think she is greeting Ricci on the other side, asking for some treaties. Our sweet girl Dobbie. This was from a few years ago. She's 14 or older now. We were fostering her for a client because he had to go into assisted living. She found a home up north through a rescue group, but she was so traumatized that we didn't have the heart to make her go on that trip and disrupt her life even more, so we adopted her. She is a sweet girl, not much of a cuddler. She needs her routines. When she needed a cuddle and would give the occasional little kiss, it was mostly always Ricci she chose. She slept right up on Ricci's legs every night, sometimes much to Ricci's discomfort.

This was our little sweet Lily. She was living under our next-door neighbor's house, and she was just a wee little kitten. We would put food out for her, but as soon as we tried to get her, she would run back under. We finally had to use a trap to get her. Boy, she didn't like that. She had anemia and some kind of rare bone disease. We would give her prednisone, and it helped for a few years, but after about 4 years, nothing seemed to help, and we had to let her go. It broke our hearts, but she was such a sweet little one, and we were grateful for the time we had with her.

I will be dissolving Mr. Scruff's Pet Care, but I will continue to post photos of beloved pets we've watched and other things to keep Ricci's memory alive and serve as a kind of memorial to her, since it was a big part of her life. I started this company way back in 2002, and she joined me full-time about 7 years later. When I became disabled, she took on most of the work and cared so much for all of our clients and animals. She really had a big heart, and I miss her beyond measure.
