Healthy Beet and Yogurt Crunchy Bone Biscuits for Dogs With Oats

Ingredients:

* 2 cups (180 g) rolled oats (blended into coarse oat flour)
* 1 cup (245 g) plain unsweetened yogurt (room temperature)
* 1 cup (240 g) unsweetened applesauce (plain, no xylitol)
* 1/2 cup (120 g) beet purée (cooked beets, blended smooth)
* 1 tbsp (15 ml) water (only if dough is too thick)

Supplements:

* 1/4 tsp (1 g) turmeric powder (optional, for joint support)
* None

Instructions:

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
2. Add rolled oats to a blender or food processor and pulse into a coarse flour texture.
3. In a large bowl, combine oat flour, yogurt, applesauce, and beet purée. Mix until a thick pink dough forms. Add 1 tbsp (15 ml) water only if needed.
4. Roll the dough on a lightly oat-floured surface to about 1/4-inch (0.6 cm) thick.
5. Cut into bone-shaped treats using a cookie cutter and place them on the prepared baking tray.
6. Bake for 25–30 minutes until firm and lightly dry on the outside.
7. Turn off the oven and leave the treats inside for 20 additional minutes for a crunchier texture.
8. Cool completely before serving. The finished biscuits should look lightly textured, matte pink, and slightly speckled with oats like the picture.

Storage:
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 7 days. Freeze for up to 2 months. Allow frozen treats to thaw in the refrigerator before serving.

Benefits:

* Beet purée provides natural color and antioxidants without artificial dyes.
* Oats and applesauce offer gentle fiber that may support digestion and stool quality.
* Plain yogurt adds protein and beneficial probiotics that can support gut health for many dogs.

Calorie Information:
Approx. 720 kcal per batch; approx. 36 kcal per biscuit if making 20 bone treats. Calories are estimated using plain low-fat yogurt and unsweetened applesauce.

The bed is still there. The little toy hasn’t moved. Sunlight still finds its way through the window like it always did. But something is different now—and you feel it in the silence.

They used to fill this space with tiny footsteps, soft sighs, and a kind of presence that made an ordinary room feel alive. Now the house is quieter, but the love they left behind hasn’t gone anywhere. It lingers in the corners, in the routines, in the way your heart still looks for them without thinking.

Grief like this doesn’t come from loss alone—it comes from years of loyalty, comfort, and a bond that asked for nothing but gave everything. That kind of love doesn’t disappear. It changes shape, settling into memory, into feeling, into something that stays.

And maybe that’s the truth we hold onto: they’re gone from sight, but never from the life they helped build inside you.

How to make sweet potato chews?

To make sweet potato chews for dogs, you'll need:

Ingredients:
- 2-3 large sweet potatoes
- Optional: olive oil, cinnamon, or other dog-safe flavorings

Instructions:
1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
2. Wash and peel the sweet potatoes, then slice them into thin strips (about 1/4 inch thick).
3. Place the sweet potato slices on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
4. If desired, brush with olive oil or sprinkle with cinnamon for extra flavor.
5. Bake for 2-3 hours or until the sweet potatoes are dry and chewy. You can also use a dehydrator on a low setting (135°F/57°C) for 6-8 hours.
6. Let the chews cool completely before serving to your dog. Store them in an airtight container.

Some tips:
- Monitor the chews' dryness and texture. If they're still too moist, bake or dehydrate for another 30 minutes.
- Always check with your vet before introducing new foods or treats to your dog's diet.
