Mebane Canine

The work we do with our Board & Trains is constant. When we aren’t doing formal skill work, we’re reinforcing appropriate manners and behaviors in the home. These dogs live with us and become fully integrated into our household and pack.

Two weeks ago, Reyna came to Mebane Canine for a 28-Day Board & Train focused primarily on behavior modification for intense reactivity. When she arrived, she was reactive to both dogs and strangers. Over the past two weeks, we’ve worked to lessen her fear, support her curiosity, and reinforce appropriate decision-making.

Today, we spent a few hours at the Spooktacular in Downtown Mebane. Reyna experienced crowds, costumes, noise, countless people, and dogs—and handled it all beautifully.

Getting to witness firsthand how far she has come was incredibly rewarding.

It’s wins like today that keep the passion for this work going. ❤️

So proud of this girl and the hard work she is putting in ❤️

The two leashes are for security purposes at this point. Reyna is is being trained to understand leash pressure using a slip chain and that is very new to her. The orange leash is a slip lead and gives me a backup option, should it be needed. She is doing great in our Board and Train program ❤️

Please excuse my appearance. Dog training is sweaty, slobbery, and somehow I always end up with mud on me. Looking nice in pictures is misleading for the actual work that I put into helping pups and I don’t waste my time on that 🤷‍♀️

Our girl Reyna has come a long way in the past few days, as our current Board and Train. We have big plans for this little girl ❤️ Stay tuned for updates!

Couldn’t agree more! By far, my favorite dog trainer is Stonnie Dennis. My training experience started with Stonnie’s DIY puppy program with Henry. His program ignited a passion I never knew I had - working with and training dogs.

A year long course, where you either do the work or you don’t. I did the work everyday…nearly all day, regardless of the weather. I struggled with typical training frustrations. From his program, I wanted to grow my skills and help other families because I firmly believe our dogs deserve more in life than knowing how to sit on command.

If you’re looking for phenomenal training videos, check out Stonnie’s YouTube Channel. I train because I love it, not because I need to…which results in me have no desire to compete with other trainers and (most importantly) to be able and willing to be 100% transparent with owners. Either way, I recommend everyone checks out Stonnie’s YouTube Channel!

Even with solid training advice, a lot of dogs still act up. The mi...

Please help us in welcoming Reyna, a 1 yr old Australian Cattle Dog, as our newest Board and Train pup ❤️

For this gorgeous girl, we will be working on all aspects of remedial socialization, improving impulse control, leash skills, and reinforcing/ building upon her Basic Obedience skills.

Reyna was attacked by an off leash dog when she was younger, which has resulted in fear reactivity towards other dogs. We were not sure if Reyna would be a good candidate for a Board and Train with us, but after 6 hours of integration work with her and our in-house pack last week, it is clear that she is a candidate for our Board and Train program. I appreciate the dedication and flexibility her owners have shown so far; and, we are so excited for the opportunity to help Reyna reach her full potential as a companion pet ❤️

Got caught up in a little rescue mission on the way to a Private Lesson this morning 😬

On the way to a Private Lesson this morning, I saw this pup nearly get hit by a car and pulled over to help secure him. Approaching a loose guardian breed can be a little interesting, but this pup responded well to my approach. Once I got him engaged, I was able to secure him into my car and then a fenced in playground while we waited for Mebane Police to come and assist.

It was a good outcome for this sweet little boy.

Huge shoutout to Olive’s mom for being patient with me while I worked to make sure this pup was safe ❤️

Sweet Kevin returned home today, following his Board and Train program with us. Kevin grew so much in the time we had to work with him, in a way that standard training methods would not have allowed for. Our approach to training is what allowed him to grow as quickly as he did.

Today’s “Go Home” session was focused on handler skill development for his awesome parents.

Kevin is a pup with a heart of gold and will be missed by our family and our pack. I’m looking forward in continuing to support Kevin and his family as they continue to experience the world together ❤️
