Let’s talk MALES vs. FEMALES! 🩵🐾🩷
One thing I’ve noticed over the years is just how many people have their hearts set on a male German Shepherd! Our waiting list for males is significantly longer than our female list, and we often find ourselves with more females still looking for their families after working through our waiting list.
And I just want to say… don’t count the girls out! 🎀
I completely understand that some people have their hearts set on a certain gender, and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that! But I also encourage families to keep an open mind, because you might be surprised by just how amazing these girls are!
Female German Shepherds have SO much to offer. They can be incredibly affectionate, attentive, intelligent, and devoted to their families. Many of our girls have such a wonderful balance of confidence, independence, and sweetness. They love being involved in everything you do, but many also have that wonderful off-switch that makes them such a joy to live with.
And here’s a little fun fact about me…
I used to be a MALE dog person through and through! 😂
When I started breeding almost 10 years ago, I was convinced males were my favorite. But as I started bringing more females into our program and really getting to know their personalities, I quickly found myself switching sides!
Now? I am absolutely a female dog person! I adore our boys, don’t get me wrong, but there is just something so special about our girls. I truly cannot say enough good things about them!
Of course, every dog is an individual, and temperament is SO much more important than gender alone. We’ve had incredibly affectionate, laid-back males and females alike. That’s exactly why we put so much emphasis on temperament evaluations and matching each puppy with the right family!
My point is, don’t overlook an amazing puppy simply because she’s a girl. You might just be passing up the perfect fit for your family!
