⚠️🐾⚠️ Another Reminder about Rabies!! ⚠️🐾⚠️

Did you know all mammals are capable of being infected with and transmitting rabies? Even cute cuddly ones like kittens! In recent years, cats have become the most common domestic animal infected with rabies because many cat owners do not vaccinate their cats, and cats can be exposed to rabid wildlife, either outdoors or when bats get into the house.

Here are 6️⃣ ways you can prevent this disease and protect yourself and your animals. Visit avma.org/Rabies to learn more.

Update! We were just recently informed that someone we know was recently exposed to a bat and now has to have rabies prophylaxis due to the bat not being properly contained & taken in the recommended fashion to the health department. Please immediately ask the health department or your vet for advice if you’re unsure of how to handle a bat or aggressive wild animal exposure before touching or destroying or RELEASING the animal. Testing the proper tissues and/or proper storage of them until they can can be tested may save a lot of money/worry/medical visits if things are done right! We Know Things! Ask Us!!!🫣

💜💕🐶🐾💜 What a Wonderful Program & Beautiful Tribute!!💜💕🐶🐾💜

Today marks the launch of the Happy Tails therapy dog program at Mosaic Medical Center – Maryville. From noon to 1:30 p.m., certified therapy dogs and their volunteer handlers will be visiting throughout the hospital, bringing comfort, connection and a few extra smiles to patients, visitors and caregivers.

The Happy Tails program was first established through the Mosaic Life Care Foundation in St. Joseph and is now expanding to Maryville through the generosity of the late Sharon Bonnett and the support of the St. Francis Foundation.

Inspired by Sharon's lifelong passion for animal welfare and helping others, Happy Tails creates meaningful opportunities for comfort, companionship and healing through the special bond between people and animals.
