Your tack is an investment—and proper care can make it last for years while also keeping your horse comfortable and safe!

🧽 CLEAN YOUR TACK REGULARLY
After riding, wipe away sweat, dirt, and hair. A quick wipe-down after every ride can prevent buildup from becoming a much bigger problem.

🧼 DEEP CLEAN WHEN NEEDED
Depending on how often you ride, give your saddle, bridle, breast collar, reins, and other leather tack a more thorough cleaning. Remove dirt and sweat before conditioning.

🧴 CONDITION YOUR LEATHER
Leather needs moisture to stay soft and flexible. Use a quality leather conditioner when appropriate—but don’t over-condition. Too much product can make leather soft, greasy, or weaken certain areas.

🔍 INSPECT YOUR TACK
Cleaning is also the perfect time to look for problems:
• Cracked or dry leather
• Loose stitching
• Worn billets
• Damaged buckles
• Stretched holes
• Frayed reins or straps
• Rusted or damaged hardware

⚠️ DON’T FORGET THE SAFETY CHECK
Before every ride, take a few seconds to check your girth, billets, stirrup leathers, stirrup irons, bridle, reins, and any other equipment you’re using. A small problem can become a serious safety issue.

🧽 KEEP BITS CLEAN
Bits collect saliva and food residue. Rinse them after every ride and give them a thorough cleaning regularly. Your horse will appreciate a clean bit!

🌧️ STORE TACK PROPERLY
Keep leather tack somewhere clean, dry, and well ventilated. Avoid leaving it in a damp area or sitting in extreme heat.

🐎 REMEMBER:
Taking care of your tack isn’t just about keeping it looking pretty.

Clean, well-maintained tack is safer, more comfortable for your horse, and more likely to last. ❤️

Take care of your equipment, and it will take care of you when you need it most!

Let’s talk about something that can be a difficult decision for any horse owner…

Is it wrong to sell a horse simply because you don’t click with them?

The answer? No. ❤️

Not every horse and rider are going to be the perfect match. Sometimes you can love and care for a horse deeply while realizing that your personalities, riding styles, goals, or experience levels just don’t fit together.

That doesn’t make you a bad owner.

Keeping a horse out of guilt when the partnership isn’t working can sometimes be harder on both of you. You may become frustrated, lose confidence, or stop enjoying riding—and your horse deserves a partner who brings out the best in them, too.

Selling a horse doesn’t mean you failed.

Sometimes, finding the right home and the right person is actually one of the most responsible things you can do.

❤️ The goal isn’t to prove you can make every horse work. The goal is to find the partnership where both horse and rider can thrive.

Before making the decision, be honest with yourself:
🐎 Have you given the partnership a fair chance?
🐎 Are your goals compatible?
🐎 Is the issue training, or simply personality?
🐎 Would a different rider or environment suit the horse better?
🐎 Are you still enjoying the relationship?

And most importantly—don’t sell a horse just because you’re going through one bad season together. Horses and riders both have ups and downs.

But if you’ve genuinely tried, and the partnership still isn’t right, there is absolutely nothing wrong with saying:

“This horse deserves a better match, and so do I.” ❤️

Have you ever owned a horse that just wasn’t the right fit?

Some days, the motivation is easy to find. You’re excited to ride, your horse is having a great day, and everything feels like it’s coming together.

Then there are the days when you’re tired, frustrated, your horse isn’t cooperating, or progress feels nonexistent.

Those are the days when you have to remember WHY you started. ❤️

Maybe your goal is to:
🏆 Win your next competition
🐎 Build a stronger partnership with your horse
🌱 Improve your riding
💪 Become a more confident rider
❤️ Give your horse the best life possible
✨ Or simply enjoy the time you get to spend together

Progress with horses isn’t always a straight line. There will be setbacks, bad rides, frustrating days, and moments where you question yourself.

Don’t let one bad day make you forget all the good ones.

Take a step back. Celebrate the little victories. Remember where you started and how far you’ve come.

Your motivation doesn’t have to be winning a buckle or reaching the biggest goal.

Sometimes, your motivation can simply be loving what you do and wanting to keep getting better. 🐴❤️

Find your WHY. Hold onto it. And keep going. ✨

🙌🏼Happy First of the Month🙌🏼

New month, new week and new energy. Let’s start the month & week off on a high note with great intentions🫡

Maybe this just isn’t your year.

Maybe you’re not riding like you used to.
Maybe your horse isn’t performing the way they normally do.
Maybe you’re dealing with injuries, health problems, or just feeling worn down.
Maybe finances are tight and you can’t make it to as many shows or lessons.
Maybe you’re watching everyone else succeed while you feel like you’re falling behind.

It’s okay. Really.

One bad season does not erase everything you’ve accomplished.

Your horse doesn’t care about your placing, your time, your ribbons, or how many shows you made it to. They care about the time you spend together, the care you give them, and the partnership you’re building. ❤️

Sometimes success looks like winning a buckle.

Sometimes success looks like getting back in the saddle after being off for months.

Sometimes it’s making it through a lesson without getting frustrated.

Sometimes it’s simply keeping your horse happy, healthy, and cared for when life is throwing everything at you.

You are not behind. You are not a failure. You are not any less of a horse person because this season didn’t go the way you planned.

There will be better seasons. There will be more shows, more goals, more rides, more opportunities, and more memories to make.

Give yourself—and your horse—some grace. 🫶🏼

Your worst season does not define your horsemanship. Keep going. 🐎❤️

🐴 Horse Lameness: Don’t Ignore the Signs!

Lameness doesn’t always look like an obvious limp. Sometimes the signs are subtle, and catching them early can make a HUGE difference. 👀

Some things to watch for:
🐎 Uneven or shortened strides
🐎 Head bobbing or changes in way of going
🐎 Reluctance to pick up a lead or change leads
🐎 Bucking, refusing, or suddenly acting “girthy”
🐎 Trouble backing, turning, or going downhill
🐎 Swelling, heat, or sensitivity in a leg
🐎 A sudden change in performance or attitude
🐎 Repeatedly not wanting to do something they normally enjoy

One of the biggest things to remember: your horse doesn’t have to be three-legged lame for something to be wrong.

If your horse suddenly feels different, consistently performs differently, or just seems off, don’t automatically assume they’re being stubborn or lazy. There could be pain involved.

When in doubt, stop, evaluate, and involve your veterinarian or qualified equine professional. Finding the cause of lameness isn’t always simple, and sometimes it takes a combination of a physical exam, watching the horse move, flexion tests, imaging, and other diagnostics.

❤️ Your horse can’t tell you where it hurts—so it’s our job to listen to what they’re showing us.
