🐾🚨 Is Your Pet Prepared for an Emergency? 🚨🐾
Emergencies can happen when we least expect them—and having a plan for your pets can make all the difference!
Here are a few things every pet owner should have ready:
🩺 Know Your Pet’s Medical Information
Keep a copy of vaccination records, medications, medical conditions, allergies, and your veterinarian’s contact information.
🎒 Create a Pet Emergency Kit
Include food and water, medications, a leash or carrier, bowls, waste bags, blankets or towels, a first-aid kit, and comfort items.
🏷️ Make Sure Identification Is Up to Date
Check that your pet’s tags have current contact information and that their microchip information is up to date.
📸 Keep Recent Photos
Have clear photos of your pet available in case they become lost during an emergency.
🏠 Know Where You Can Go
Not every emergency shelter or hotel accepts animals. Make a list of pet-friendly locations and emergency boarding options ahead of time.
🚗 Have a Transportation Plan
Make sure you have a safe way to transport your pet quickly. Keep carriers easily accessible and make sure your pet is comfortable entering them.
📞 Know Where to Go for Emergency Veterinary Care
Save your local emergency veterinary hospital’s phone number and address in your phone BEFORE you need it.
A little preparation today can help protect your best friend tomorrow.
