An absolute Labrador Retriever Icon. Every interaction I ever had with Mary left me in awe. Her knowledge, recall of dogs and pedigrees from eons ago and story telling was like no other.
Mary’s influence on the Labrador Retriever will never be forgotten or duplicated. The breed was so incredibly lucky to have her!

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Mary Howley, known to many for her beloved Candlewood Kennels. Mary was a tremendous influence in the retriever world for more than 50 years through her Candlewood breedings, her many great dogs and accomplishments, and her generous mentorship. She leaves behind an enduring legacy in the retriever community and in the hearts of all who knew her. Our deepest condolences to her family and many friends.
