🐾❤️ URGENT! ROWDY NEEDS A FOREVER HOME! PLEASE HELP US FIND HIS PERSON! ❤️🐾

Remember Rowdy? Our sweet boy who was rescued from Walmart? 🥹❤️

When Rowdy first came into our care, he desperately needed someone to give him a chance. He needed love, medical attention, and most importantly, someone who wasn’t going to give up on him.

Since then, Rowdy has been living with a foster family who has poured so much love, time, and money into getting him healthy and showing him what it feels like to be loved. And let me tell you, this sweet boy has come SUCH a long way! ❤️

Now, we desperately need your help finding Rowdy the loving forever home he deserves!

🐾 A LITTLE ABOUT OUR SWEET ROWDY:

❤️ Rowdy is approximately 8 years old and is a Great Pyrenees mix, weighing around 83 pounds.

❤️ He is an incredibly sweet, loving boy with a BIG heart and so much love to give!

❤️ He does well walking on a leash and loves getting attention.

❤️ He has received veterinary care and vaccinations and is currently in his SECOND MONTH of heartworm treatment! So far, he seems to be doing very well! His new family will need to be committed to continuing his treatment and following his veterinarian’s instructions.

❤️ He has been around other dogs and has generally done well, although he has had a couple of disagreements with another male dog. We would want to arrange a meet-and-greet with any potential canine siblings to make sure everyone is comfortable.

❤️ And here’s something that absolutely melts our hearts! Although Rowdy has been living outside with his foster family, he tries to sneak inside the house EVERY chance he gets! 😂❤️ We can’t help but wonder if this big sweetheart was once someone’s inside baby. We may never know his full story, but he sure does love being close to his people!

❤️ Oh, and he’s discovered PUP CUPS! 🐶🍦 It’s the little things that make this sweet boy happy!

🏡 WHAT KIND OF HOME DOES ROWDY NEED?

Most importantly, ROWDY MUST GO TO A HOME WITHOUT CATS. This is a firm requirement, and we want to make sure we find the safest and best possible environment for him.

He may do well with another dog after proper introductions, or he would probably be perfectly happy soaking up all the love and attention as someone’s one and only baby!

We would LOVE to find him a family who will make him part of their everyday lives, give him the love and attention he craves, and let him finally experience the security of knowing he’s HOME. ❤️

💔 WHY IS THIS URGENT?

Unfortunately, Rowdy’s foster family is no longer able to keep him long-term. They have done everything they can to give him a second chance, but now he needs a permanent home where he can continue to thrive.

His foster family has invested a significant amount of money into his veterinary care, medications, vaccinations, and heartworm treatment. There will be an adoption fee to help offset a portion of those expenses.

But please understand, this isn’t about the money. It’s about finding the RIGHT home for a dog who has already been through so much.

🥹 Rowdy didn’t ask for the life he was given.

He didn’t ask to be abandoned. He didn’t ask to become a rescue dog. And he certainly didn’t ask to have to start his life over again.

But through it all, he has remained one of the sweetest, most loving boys you could ever meet.

All he wants is someone to love him, a safe place to call home, and a family who will never give up on him. ❤️

We have worked so hard to give Rowdy a second chance at life. Now we need someone to give him his HAPPY ENDING! 🐾❤️

🙏 PLEASE, PLEASE SHARE THIS POST!

You may not be able to adopt Rowdy, but someone on your friends list might be exactly who he’s been waiting for!

One share could change the rest of this sweet boy’s life.

📩 If you are seriously interested in giving Rowdy a loving, permanent, CAT-FREE home, please send Pawsitive Hearts of Perry County a private message.

Let’s show Rowdy that the best chapter of his life is still waiting to be written! ❤️🐾

HE DESERVES THIS. AND WE AREN’T GIVING UP ON HIM! ❤️

I have something on my heart tonight, and I feel like it needs to be said.

For the past several years, I’ve seen countless posts about stray dogs in and around Marion. Some of these dogs have been wandering around for quite some time, while others have obviously been abandoned by the very people who were supposed to love and care for them. And while seeing these poor animals struggling to survive is heartbreaking enough, some of the comments I see on these posts are just as disturbing.

It seems like every time someone posts about a stray dog, there are certain people who immediately start making comments about getting a sh***un, shooting the dog, or saying the animal deserves to be dead.

When did we become so comfortable talking about killing an innocent animal simply because it’s unwanted or inconvenient?

Let me make something clear. I understand that not everyone loves dogs the way I do. I understand that some stray dogs may be aggressive, and I absolutely believe that people and their pets deserve to feel safe. If an animal is genuinely dangerous, the situation needs to be addressed by people who know how to handle it safely and humanely. But there is a HUGE difference between protecting yourself from an actual threat and automatically suggesting that every stray dog needs to be shot.

Recently, someone posted a picture of a mama dog who had apparently been dumped near their home. This poor girl had obviously just given birth, and it was later discovered that her puppies were nearby. Just imagine being that mama dog for a moment. She didn’t ask to be abandoned. She didn’t ask to be left somewhere unfamiliar, trying to survive while caring for her babies. Thankfully, she ended up near someone with a heart for animals, and she will be cared for.

But even on a post about this poor mama, someone felt the need to make one of those hateful comments.

And I have to ask…What kind of person looks at an abandoned mama dog and immediately thinks about killing her instead of wondering how she can be helped?

We have absolutely no idea what these animals have been through. We don’t know whether they’ve been beaten, starved, neglected, frightened, or simply thrown away when someone decided they didn’t want the responsibility anymore. Some of them may have never known a gentle hand or a loving home. Others may have once been someone’s beloved pet and are now confused, scared, and wondering why their family never came back.

And yet, people are so quick to decide they don’t deserve to live.

I’ve spent years trying to help animals who cannot help themselves, and if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that some of the sweetest, most loving dogs you’ll ever meet are the very ones someone else threw away. All they needed was a little patience, kindness, and someone willing to give them a chance.

The dog in these pictures is R***r. He was once a little puppy who needed someone to give him a chance. Thankfully, someone found him and got him into rescue, and we eventually became his foster family before deciding to make him a permanent part of ours. What makes this even more personal is that some of R***r’s own dog family are among the strays people have been talking about around Marion. So when I see those hateful comments about dogs deserving to be shot or killed, I think about him. What if someone had looked at R***r and decided his life wasn’t worth saving? We would have missed out on a dog we love dearly, and he would have missed out on the life he deserves. How many other dogs just like him are out there waiting for someone to give them that same chance?

These dogs are not garbage. They are not disposable. They are living, breathing creatures who feel fear, hunger, pain, and love. They didn’t choose to be homeless. They didn’t choose to be abandoned. And they certainly don’t deserve to die because a human being failed them.

If you don’t like dogs, that’s your right. If you don’t want to help a stray, that’s your choice. Nobody is asking you to take every homeless animal into your home. But is it really too much to ask that you show a little compassion?

You can scroll past a post without making a cruel comment. You can recognize that an animal needs help without suggesting violence. And you can disagree with those of us who rescue animals without wishing death on the very creatures we’re trying to save.

Being compassionate toward animals doesn’t mean ignoring public safety. It means recognizing that there are humane ways to address these situations, and that killing an animal should never be someone’s first suggestion.

What we really need in our communities is more responsible pet ownership, more spaying and neutering, more accountability for people who abandon their animals, and more people willing to be part of the solution instead of adding to the cruelty.

I know I can’t save every dog. Believe me, that’s one of the hardest parts of rescue. But I will never stop believing that every one of them deserves a chance.

And I’ll leave you with this thought…

You can tell a lot about a person’s character by the way they treat those who have absolutely nothing to offer them in return. That includes animals.

Please, before you make another hateful comment about a stray dog, remember that somewhere behind those frightened eyes is a life that matters.

They’ve already been failed by humans once. Let’s not keep failing them. ❤️🐾

Animal Control and Sheriff's Office K-9s Nellie Mae, Bocci, and Martz want to help spread the word about Alabama's new standards for outdoor dog care, known as Beau's Law.

Effective October 1, 2026, Beau's Law establishes minimum care requirements for outdoor dogs, including adequate food, clean water, proper shelter, secure enclosures, and safe tethering practices.

The law also prohibits unsafe tethering devices and provides enforcement measures to protect dogs from neglect and dangerous conditions.

We encourage all pet owners to review the attached guide and ensure they are prepared before the law takes effect.

🐾 Together, we can help keep Alabama's dogs safe, healthy, and protected.

🚨 FOUND DOG — SPROTT, ALABAMA 🚨

Does anyone recognize this sweet girl or know where she belongs? I found her near the intersection of Highway 14 and County Road 175 in Sprott.

She was very nervous at first, but she eventually came up to me and was incredibly sweet. I had just bought cat food and treats, so I gave her some, and she seemed very appreciative. 🥺 She looks like she may have been out there for a while.

I absolutely hated leaving her, but I had my dogs in the car and had no safe way to put her in with them. She was still near that area when I left.

Please share so we can hopefully find her owner—or find a nearby rescue with room for her, a foster, or someone who can safely secure her before she gets hurt. If you recognize her or are able to help, please message me as soon as possible. Let’s get this sweet girl somewhere safe! 🙏🐾

That pup cup didn’t stand a chance! 😂🐶❤️

You may have already seen the picture from Rowdy’s first pup cup, but the video was simply too sweet not to share. More importantly, it shows the happy, loving boy everyone is helping us fight for.

We are so thankful for the two people who have already donated toward Rowdy’s veterinary care. Right now, we still need to raise at least $200 more to cover his current expenses. Additional funds will likely be needed once we learn exactly what type of heartworm treatment he will require.

If you can spare even $5 or $10, it will help. If donating isn’t possible, please share this Reel so Rowdy’s story can reach more people. Every donation and every share brings him one step closer to the healthy future he deserves. ❤️🐾
