💚 Surgery Success! I Did It!

Hi friends — it’s me, PB, your very brave Cockatoo checking in! 🕊️💚

Great news — my surgery went perfectly! My doctor said I handled the anesthesia better than any parrot she’s ever operated on! Usually parrots stop breathing under anesthesia because of how we’re built, and they have to help us — but not me! I breathed all on my own the whole time. 💪 And even though parrots sometimes move a bit during surgery, I stayed completely still. My doctor said I was a total rockstar patient! 🌟

They also took off the old band on my leg, so now I’m band-free and feeling lighter already!

I’m sorry there’s no picture or video this time — I’m not exactly presentable just yet after surgery. 😉 Once I’ve fluffed up and had some rest, I promise to show my beautiful face again soon.

🚗 Big Day — Surgery Time!

Hi friends, it’s me, PB 💚

Today was a very big day! I went in for my surgery this morning, and we even filmed the long car ride there so you could come along for the journey. I talked to my people the whole way — I had a lot to say about the scenery! 😄

When we got to the clinic, I met with my wonderful doctor, and everyone was so gentle and kind. They told me I’m a brave girl (which I already knew 😉).

This surgery will help me feel so much better in the long run, and I can’t wait to get back home to rest, heal, and tell you all about it. Thank you for sending love, prayers, and good vibes — I can feel them all! 🕊️💚

💬 Feeling Good & Chatty — Big Day Coming Soon!

Hi everyone! It’s me, PB! 💚🦜

I’ve been feeling really good lately — playing with my toys, chatting nonstop, and making sure everyone around here knows I have lots to say! 😄 Vocal cockatoo? Yep, that’s me!

And guess what? I officially have a date for my big surgery!
Next Thursday — November 6th — I’ll be getting the special procedure that will help keep me healthy and comfortable for the long run. 🏥🕊️

Until then, I’ll be taking my meds like a champ, eating my yummy snacks, and letting my personality shine ✨

💚 Visitors Make My Day!

Guess what, friends? I had a visitor yesterday! 🕊️

My new friend came by to help with the parrots — and of course, I made sure to supervise very closely. 😉 We talked, we laughed, and I even showed off how good I am at taking my medicine (and posing for pictures).

It felt so nice to have extra company and some new energy in the house. Every kind human who spends time with us helps make healing a little easier and the days a little brighter.

Thank you for helping care for me and my feathered friends — I loved every minute! 💚

🍪 My Morning Medicine Routine!

Good morning, friends! 💚

You know what makes medicine time way better? Animal crackers! 😋
Every morning I get my meds on a tiny cookie — it helps with inflammation, keeps me comfy, and makes sure I stay healthy while I get ready for my big surgery in a couple of weeks.

I take them like a champ (and I think the cookie part makes me a very brave girl)! After that, I usually have a little chat with my people — just to let them know I’m feeling good. 🦜💬

💚 PB Update – Feeling Better and Back Home!

Good news — I’m home and feeling so much better! 🕊️

I had to go in for an emergency procedure, and now I’ve got temporary sutures to help the inflammation go down before my next surgery in a couple of weeks. For now, I’m taking three medications to keep everything on track — one to reduce inflammation, one to prevent infection, and one to keep me comfortable and pain-free.

I’m resting, eating well, and talking up a storm to everyone around me — the house is full of chatter again! 💬🦜

🕊️ Meet PB the Brave Cockatoo

Hi everyone — I’m PB, a young Umbrella Cockatoo with a very big personality and an even bigger story. 💚

I was surrendered to a veterinary hospital by my former owners, who said I was “too loud.” They planned to have me euthanized, but instead, I was given a second chance — and that’s how I became part of The Georgia Aviary family.

When I arrived, I was suffering from a severe cloacal prolapse, a painful and dangerous condition that makes even basic functions difficult. I recently had an emergency procedure to stabilize me, and I’ll soon be undergoing an Asymmetric Cloacoplasty, a specialized surgery that will give me a much better quality of life.

This page will follow my journey as I get the medical care I desperately need, share updates on my recovery, and help educate others about the complex health and behavioral needs of parrots like me.

I may be small, but I have a big voice — and now, I’m using it to spread awareness, hope, and maybe a few happy squawks along the way. 🕊️
