🐾 American Canine Coach Board-and-Train Program 🐾

Our Board-and-Train program provides dogs with structured, daily training in a comfortable, home-based environment. It’s designed for owners who want more than occasional lessons can provide and need consistent, hands-on training to help their dog succeed.

We focus on obedience, manners, leash skills, impulse control, and behavior challenges, while building the structure, communication, and confidence dogs need to become better companions at home and in everyday life.

Every dog receives individualized training based on their needs, personality, and goals. 🐶

Consistent training. Real-world skills. Better communication.
That’s the American Canine Coach difference.

This is where “place” becomes useful.

Not in a quiet room.

But in real, everyday moments.

Cleaning.
Moving around the house.
Things happening around your dog.

Instead of following you from room to room or getting underfoot, the dog learns to stay put.

That’s what we’re building here.

Holding position
Ignoring movement
Staying calm while something is happening

Because home shouldn’t feel chaotic.

It should feel calm and manageable.

“Place” gives your dog a clear job — even when you’re busy.

If your dog struggles to settle or stay out of the way at home, we can help you build this the right way.

Your trips to the park don’t have to feel chaotic. 🐾

A lot of dogs struggle in places like this:
• Pulling on the leash
• Jumping on benches
• Ignoring commands
• Getting overstimulated

That usually comes down to a lack of follow-through in new environments.

That’s what we’re working on here.

Teaching the dog to go to place… and stay there, even outside the home.

We build that by:
• Starting the command in a familiar space
• Adding duration before adding distractions
• Bringing it into new environments like parks
• Holding the same expectations everywhere

Over time, your dog learns the command applies anywhere — not just at home.

And that’s what makes outings feel calm instead of stressful.

If you want this kind of control in public with your dog, we can help you get there.

This is where training starts to matter more.

Inside is predictable.

Outside is different.

👉🏻 New smells
👉🏻 New sounds
👉🏻 Movement
👉🏻 Distractions

That’s where a lot of commands start to break down.

“Place” isn’t just something we practice in a quiet room.

We bring it out here so the dog learns how to:

• Hold position in a changing environment
• Stay put even when things are happening
• Ignore distractions and stay focused
• Follow through on the command the same way every time

Because the goal isn’t just a dog that listens inside.

It’s a dog that understands the command no matter where they are.

That’s how it becomes reliable.

If your dog struggles to hold commands outside, we can help you build that the right way.

This is what the process looks like.

Not perfectly still.
Not instant.
Not consistent yet.

Just a dog learning something new.

When we first introduce “down,” we’re not expecting a finished behavior.

We’re building understanding.

Helping the dog figure out:

What the command means
How to get into position
How to start responding consistently

That takes repetition.

Clear guidance
Consistent timing
And a lot of practice

Over time, it starts to click.

The movement slows down.
The response gets clearer.
The behavior becomes more reliable.

Every well-trained dog goes through this stage.

It doesn’t start perfect — it starts here.

If you’re working on basic obedience or just getting started, we can help you build that foundation the right way.

Recalling even with distractions.

This is how we master it. ⬇️

Most dogs can come when nothing is going on.

Outside is different.

There’s movement.
Smells.
Space.
Other things pulling their attention.

That’s where recall gets tested.

We don’t jump straight into this.

We build it step by step:

• Starting in controlled environments
• Adding distance gradually
• Introducing distractions over time
• Reinforcing the response every time

So when we get out here, the dog already understands the expectation.

Come means come — no matter what’s happening.

That’s what creates a recall you can actually trust.

If your dog struggles to come back outside, we can help you build it the right way.

This is what building the command looks like.

Not one perfect rep.

Not one moment where it works.

It’s repetition.

Same cue.
Same follow-through.
Same expectation every time.

That’s how a dog starts to understand what “place” really means.

We don’t rush through it.

We repeat it until the behavior becomes familiar, predictable, and consistent.

Because reliability doesn’t come from doing it once.

It comes from doing it the same way, over and over, until the dog knows exactly what to do.

If you want a dog that can hold position and stay steady, this is where it starts.

Discipline isn’t something dogs fight. It’s something they settle into. 🐾

A lot of dogs come off as “too much” because they don’t know what’s expected of them:
• Constant movement
• Pacing the house
• Following you everywhere
• Struggling to relax

When a dog understands a command like place, everything starts to slow down.

They learn where to be.
They learn how to stay there.
They learn how to turn off.

That’s what you’re seeing here.

We build that by:
• Repetition on the command
• Holding the position until released
• Following through every time
• Gradually increasing duration

Over time, that structure turns into a calmer, more settled dog in the home.

If your dog has a hard time relaxing or staying in one place, we can help you build this the right way.
