This available yearling Circle H bred filly has a powerhouse pedigree: Spooks Gotta Whiz × Wimpys Rose. Built right, bred right, and ready to step into a program. She has triple Crown genetics on top and proven mare power on bottom.

The top boasts a stud line that goes all the way back to Peppy San Badger, a member of the NCHA Hall of Fame. Peppy San Badger won the NCHA Futurity in 1977 and the Derby in 1978. In addition, he was reserve world champion in 1980, and won the 1981 NCHA Finals. In 19 seasons, Peppy San Badger sired 2,325 AQHA-registered foals that have earned more than 7,200 points in all divisions and won more than $25 million.

This filly also goes back to Hollywood Jac 86, who made history as the first sire in reining to produce offspring with National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) earnings exceeding $1 million, a milestone he achieved in 1993, when prize purses and high-paying events were far fewer than today. That same year, he was inducted into the NRHA Hall of Fame. Remarkably, 60% of Hollywood Jac’s progeny became performers, collectively earning more than $1.7 million in NRHA winnings and accumulating 1,668 AQHA points.
On the bottom, this filly carries genetics from Wimpy's Little Step, an NRHA $15 Million Sire. The bottom also goes back to Smart Little Lena, who is the #2 All Time Leading Sire, NCHA $42.3 Million Sire, and the first horse to win NCHA’s Triple Crown. Smart Little Lena was out of Doc O'Lena X Smart Peppy. Doc O'Lena goes back to Doc Bar and Poco Lena, two of the most influential horses in the cutting industry.

To Circle H Performance Horses, a foal’s first trim is one of the most important early steps in setting up long‑term soundness! Long before a c**t or filly ever steps into a training program, their feet are shaping how their legs grow, how their joints load, and how their entire body develops. That first trim isn’t about making the foot “pretty” it’s about guiding growth.

Foals grow fast, and their bones, tendons, and joints are all adapting to the angles created by the hoof. Even small imbalances can compound over time. A toe that’s too long, a heel that’s too low, or a foot that’s starting to drift off center can change how the limb tracks. Left alone, those tiny deviations can become conformational faults that follow the horse for life. Early correction is gentle, simple, and incredibly effective.

The first trim is also about education. Foals aren’t born knowing how to stand quietly, pick up their feet, or balance themselves while a farrier works. Low‑stress handling makes all the difference. Short sessions, calm restraint, and consistent cues teach the foal that farrier work is safe and predictable. A good first experience sets the tone for every trim that follows.

Timing matters. Most foals benefit from their first trim around four to eight weeks of age, depending on growth rate and hoof condition. At this stage, the goal is to support natural alignment, not force dramatic changes. A skilled farrier will evaluate the whole limb: knees, fetlocks, pastern angles, and how the foal stands and moves. The trim is light, balanced, and focused on symmetry.

Circle H Performance Horses believes a well‑managed mare herd is one of the most overlooked foundations of a successful breeding program. Long before a foal hits the ground, the environment a mare lives in shapes her stress levels, her hormone balance, her ability to cycle consistently, and ultimately the quality of the foal she produces.

When a herd is balanced, every mare knows her place, understands her routine, and can settle into the kind of calm daily rhythm that supports healthy cycling and better maternal behavior. Stress disrupts all of that. It elevates cortisol, interferes with ovulation, increases the risk of injury, and creates tension that carries straight into pregnancy and foal‑raising.

Low‑stress management starts with thoughtful grouping. Age, temperament, and physical condition matter. Dominant mares shouldn’t be forced into constant competition, and timid mares shouldn’t be pushed to the edges of the herd. This c**t's sire, Gunnatrashya, is the current QData & NRHA #1 All-Time Leading Sire; the 2025 NRHA & QData #3 Leading Sire, and the NRHA’s #1 Leading Sire in 2024, 2023, 2022 and 2021. Gunnatrashya goes back to Colonels Freckles, one of the most influential Quarter Horse sires. He was the 1976 NCHA Futurity Open Champion, which was considered to be one of the toughest futurities in the history of the event. The finalists included exceptional cutting horses as Freckles Pl***oy, Doc's Oak, Doc's Remedy, Doc Athena, Montana Doc, and Tip It Sam.

As summer comes to a close and cooler weather is approaching, we are already preparing for the winter months that will be here before we know it. Fall is the season to set the tone. With the right preparation, Iowa weanlings head into winter confident, healthy, and ready to grow!

At Circle H we make sure every base is covered when it comes to ensuring our barn stays healthy and strong all season long.

A sample of things we focus on to set our weanlings up for success include......

✅ Nutrition as pastures decline:
Iowa forage quality drops fast in late fall. Weanlings need higher‑quality protein sources, consistent mineral access, and enough calories to support growth without losing condition.

✅ Building winter‑ready immunity:
Fall is the ideal time for boosters, parasite management, and monitoring stress responses from weaning so they don’t enter winter immunocompromised.

✅ Shelter and environmental acclimation:
Young horses need dry bedding, windbreaks, and gradual exposure to colder temps. Sudden cold snaps are common in Iowa — preparation matters!
