Hey all! I know it's been a while since I posted on here, so I figured I'd make a post on hoof casting.

I have really come to like this Casting material by Equicast it can be used for many different purposes, I'm posting pictures of 2 different cases from the last few weeks. The first one had really bad ingrown frog that we had to cut out so then it was very tender and needed medication so we put copper sulfate crystal and Dura Sole in the effected area and since there wasn't hardly any frog we filled the foot with dental impression and then casted the foot, it allows the horses to walk on it right away and it's very durable.

Second one was a really bad abscess, horse wouldn't put any weight on it at all, it had blown out top and bottom, so we got it all cleaned out put Dura sole and copper sulfate crystals in and put a full roll of vet wrap on to give you more comfort to walk on it, and then put the casting over that as you can see in the pictures, almost right away the horse started walking on it and was happy again. We usually we leave these on for atleast 2 wks up to 6 wks. depending how the horses are doing.

2 before and after cases from another Monday! I have never been a fan of the term "corrective" shoeing, because they they all need done "correctly" so many times less is more. You can put any crazy packages on you want but without bone alignment it's not gonna work long term, Just my 2cents.
