🐾❤️$5 FRIDAY WE NEED YOUR HELP! ❤️

We're going to be very transparent today because the truth is, Deacon's Hope Rescue is struggling financially right now.

Our rescue funds are getting dangerously low, and unfortunately, the expenses aren't slowing down.

We have FOUR new dogs coming into our care, all of whom will need veterinary care. Our sweet little Chica also needs surgery to remove a cyst from her head. ❤️

And yes, we agreed to take in another little Havanese girl because we just couldn't leave her behind at the mill. When they're willing to release them to rescue we try our hardest to get them to safety. These dogs deserve a home, love, and to understand life isn't about having litter and litter... it is SO much more. 🥹

The reality of rescue is that veterinary expenses, food, medications, and other necessities don't wait. Those bills begin immediately, while it can be quite some time before adoption fees help replenish our funds.

Meanwhile, the dogs already in our care still depend on us for everything they need.

We never want finances to be the reason we have to say no to a dog who desperately needs help. But we also have to make sure we can properly care for every dog who depends on us.

That's why this $5 Friday is especially important.

🐾❤️ CAN WE MAKE ROOM FOR ONE MORE? ❤️🐾

FOSTER NEEDED FOR A 4-YEAR-OLD, 8-POUND FEMALE HAVANESE!

We have two Havanese girls preparing to join Deacon's Hope Rescue from commercial breeding facilities, and thankfully, both already have wonderful foster homes waiting for them! ❤️

But we've just learned that one of those facilities is willing to release another little girl to rescue.

And well... how do we say no?? 🥹❤️

She's just 4 years old, weighs only 8 pounds, and this could be her chance to leave life as a breeding dog behind and discover what it means to be a beloved companion.

We have a place for the first two. Now we just need someone willing to open their heart and home to this third little girl.

We can't save them all, but when we're given the opportunity to change one more life, we certainly want to try. ❤️

💛 STILL NEED YOU SATURDAY 💛

I need to be very honest tonight...

Yesterday’s donations were incredibly low, and if that becomes our new normal, Deacon’s Hope Rescue simply cannot continue taking dogs at the rate they need us.

That isn’t meant to scare anyone or make anyone feel guilty. It’s just the math of rescue.

Donations are what allow us to say YES.

Yes, we can take the dog sitting in a shelter.

Yes, we can help the puppy someone no longer wants.

Yes, we can take that litter someone dumped

Yes, we can take the scared German Shepherd who needs somewhere safe to land.

Yes, we can get them vaccinated, spayed or neutered, microchipped, treated for parasites, fed, transported and cared for until the right family comes along.

Our fosters give these dogs their homes, their time and their hearts.

But we still have to provide the money to care for them.

When donations slow down, everything slows down with them. And eventually, we have to start saying no .. not because we don't care, but because taking a dog without the funds to properly care for that dog isn't rescue. We've had to say no a lot lately. 😢

We don't need a handful of people giving hundreds of dollars.

We need a whole lot of people giving $5, $10 or $20!

If everyone who follows this page assumed someone else would donate, there would be no Deacon’s Hope.

If you've ever watched one of our dogs come in scared, sick, neglected or unwanted and then watched that same dog leave with a family of their own… you helped make that possible. When we needed you... you were there.

And we desperately need your help to keep doing it. 🐾

HOW has this stocky, beautiful girl not found her people yet?! ❤️

Gretta is still searching for her forever home, and we’re going to keep searching until we find the right fit for HER.

This gorgeous German Shepherd puppy is smart, affectionate, playful, and absolutely devoted to her people. Gretta is our little shadow... and we mean that quite literally. 😂
She wants to know where her humans are, what they’re doing, where they’re going, and most importantly, why they thought they could go there without her.

She has plenty of that wonderful German Shepherd puppy energy, but she also has an incredibly sweet and affectionate side. Head and face scratches are her absolute FAVORITE. ❤️

This busy little girl will happily sit or lie perfectly still as long as you’re scratching that sweet face. Apparently, affection is her off switch. 😂

Gretta is confident, curious, loving, and already showing us what a loyal companion she’s going to become. She’ll need a family prepared to continue her training, exercise, structure, and socialization as she grows. German Shepherd puppies are incredibly smart, and Gretta is no exception! Good with other dogs and very curious about cats. She’s good with kids but needs reminded sometimes jumping is not acceptable.

As always, Deacon’s Hope Rescue is not first come, first served. Our goal is to find the home that best matches each individual dog and where they can thrive for a lifetime.
Gretta is spayed, vetted, and ready to start the next chapter of her life. ❤️
