🐾 September is Animal Pain Awareness Month! 🐾

As a veterinary surgical and dentistry specialty hospital, we’re all too familiar with pain in our animal friends. And while pets are incredibly good at hiding discomfort, they still give us signs when something isn’t right.

One of the most common signs of pain is limping. But pain can look different from pet to pet. Watch for changes such as:

Difficulty standing up or lying down
Restlessness or an inability to get comfortable
Changes in activity or behavior
Limping or reluctance to move
Eating less or having difficulty eating
Drooling or pawing at the face
Stopping or reducing normal grooming
Simply not acting like themselves
Pets may not always know when to slow down, but they often show us when they’re hurting. ❤️ If you notice a change in your pet’s behavior, mobility, eating habits, or daily routine, it’s worth talking with your veterinarian.

🎉❤ Happy Birthday, Atlas!
This 109 lb gentle giant turned 1 year old, and dressed for the occasion at his visit yesterday. Our team had the best time giving him pets and love (and maybe an extra treat or two) for his birthday. He even showed us his favorite tricks. Thank you to Atlas' family for bringing him to to see us!

Yesterday was Katie’s last day at South Paws, and while we’re excited for her as she begins her next adventure, saying goodbye is definitely bittersweet. 💙

Katie has been part of the South Paws family for 13 years, and during that time, she has made a lasting impact on countless pets and the families who love them. She has been a familiar, caring face to so many and has truly left some BIG shoes to fill!

Katie, thank you for 13 years of dedication, compassion, hard work, and so many memories. We will miss you dearly, but we are incredibly grateful for the time we’ve had with you.
