🐻‍❄️ Moe “Moe Dog” Edwards 🐻‍❄️
🩵 04/19/14 – 09/20/26 🩵

With his loving parents at his side, Moe Dog Edwards wandered across that beautiful Rainbow Bridge on Sunday, September 19th… proving once and for all, that all who wander are not truly lost.

Moe was born on April 19, 2014 in the Fox Valley and spent his early years with a young family in the area. Given Moe’s love of children (and people in general), it is evident he was raised around kids who adored and loved on him. Unfortunately, in the fall of 2019, circumstances changed and Moe found himself in need of a new family to take over the role of Polar Bear caretaker (aka… face rubber, treat dispenser, drool wiper, full body massager and big feeling manager). Although the timing wasn’t quite ideal, one meeting with Moe sealed the deal. Moe would become the first “official” rescue and most infamous Polar Bear of Wilson’s Wish.
Moe was a complex man who not so subtly affirmed that not all Polar Bears are created equal. While Wilson hadn’t an enemy in the world; Moe was quite certain that every dog’s goal in life was to throw punches. And so, we eventually came to realize that life with Moe meant walking last (BEHIND the cop car) in the Dog Jog at the Turkey Trot, never allowing guests to visit with their dogs (lest he attempt to bounce them WWE style) and only bringing in new dogs that were too old to be bothered with his overly large feelings (Beverly Rose, Addie and Bruce) or too young and obnoxious to care (… Olive).

Moe spent the next seven years living his best life and just simply doing Moe Dog things. In his younger years, he became well known for stealthily escaping (big boy could RUN when he wanted to!), leading to an array of interesting predicaments; such as… rolling in a skunk carcass AND burdocks simultaneously, getting INTO our neighbor’s electric fencing but (of course) not out of, bringing home his trophy “buck” (and by that, we mean… partial leg of aged deer carcass from random ditch) and wandering a full country block (“as the crow flies”) to set up camp in some unassuming neighbor’s garage. It was no surprise, he proudly supported a tag reading …

MOE
I’m Lost AF
Please call my Mom before she loses her s**t

The only thing Moe loved more than wandering was being the center of attention (oh, and barking and snow and being a lap dog)… ANYONE’s attention. Moe truly LOVED everyone, and in return, EVERYONE truly loved Moe. He made it impossible not to. Just one glance into his soulful brown eyes, and you were done for. We often joked with guests to “not make eye contact with him” because if you did, that darn Sarah McLachlan song would undoubtedly start playing in your head, and he knew he had you. Now, if you DID manage to avoid his suggestive glances, he would unashamedly resort to the ever effective Pyr Paw. “What do you mean you don’t want to pet me? Excuse me, sir/ma’am… BAM! See… you do.” He left an impression on everyone, especially children. Some of our favorite memories over the years are of children meeting Moe for the first time. We never worried about his patience or demeanor with them; it was as though God put him on this Earth to teach children about the most amazing best friend you’ll ever have… your dog.

Life with Moe was never dull. In fact, it was quite the opposite… It was loud and messy and at times, chaotic. But that is what made it so special and so very memorable. Moe leaves behind a family that loves him dearly and will miss him immensely. His memory will never fade… nor will the massive amounts of dog hair he left behind.

Moe is lovingly survived by his Mom and Dad, Tonya and Dave Edwards, his sister Olive, brother Bruce (Cyrus, not so much…) and special “Auntie” Jennifer Hurley. He is furthered survived by the plethora of farm animals he tolerated, specifically Margie, Tiny Tuna Fish and Jimmy Choo.

At the Rainbow Bridge, Moe was welcomed by his many, many siblings from The Wish. Undoubtedly, Wilson and Odin, his fellow Polar Bears, were there to “Pyr Paw” him upon arrival and show him the absolute best places to relax in the sun and bark at all who pass by.

Run free Our Sweet Boy… with hips no longer hurting, we know a new world of adventures await you. 🌈
