“Horses can’t do yoga.”

Horse: “Hold my hay.” 😂

Apparently when you have a bodyworker, you don’t need a yoga mat… just someone willing to stretch you into positions you didn’t know were possible.

Keeping those shoulders moving, those muscles happy, and the horses feeling good!

Horse yoga: 10/10. Would stretch again.

That BIG YAWN isn’t just your horse being tired

When a horse yawns, licks, chews, lowers their head, or takes a deep breath during bodywork, it can be a sign that they’re relaxing and releasing tension.

Bodywork is about more than making a horse feel good in the moment. It’s about helping them move more comfortably, support their body through training, and keep them feeling their best.

Every horse carries tension differently — and every session is tailored to what your horse needs that day.

Sometimes the best review comes in the form of a big ol’ yawn.

FASCIA FASCIA FASCIA

The importance of Fascia!

Fascia plays a HUGE role in how a horse moves, feels, and performs. It’s the connective tissue that surrounds and connects muscles and other structures throughout the body.

When fascia becomes tight or restricted, it can affect movement and create tension or compensation. That’s where equine massage therapy can help! Through focused bodywork, we can help release tension, improve circulation, and encourage the body to move more freely.

Understanding the different fascia lines and how they connect throughout the horse allows me to look at the whole horse, rather than just the area where they may be showing soreness. Every horse is different, and my goal is to help each one feel their best from nose to tail and hoof to ear!

Your horse works hard… make sure they recover just as hard.

Equine massage is about so much more than relaxation. It helps improve circulation, relieve muscle tension, increase flexibility, and support your horse’s overall performance and well-being.

Whether your horse is a high-level competitor, a weekend trail partner, or a retired pasture companion, every horse can benefit from feeling their best.

Signs your horse may benefit from a massage:
• Stiffness or resistance under saddle
• Difficulty bending or picking up leads
• Muscle soreness after work
• General tension or behavioral changes
• Preparing for or recovering from competition

Invest in your horse’s comfort today so they can perform at their best tomorrow.

Happy Sunday from the barn!

Ever wonder why horses yawn during a massage? It’s one of the many ways they can release tension and show their bodies are beginning to relax. While every horse responds differently, common signs of release during a session can include:

✨ Yawning
💤 Licking and chewing
😴 Lowering the head
👁️ Softening around the eyes
🌬️ Deep sighs or slow, relaxed breathing
🦵 Stretching
💛 A calmer, more settled demeanor

These moments are always rewarding to see because they tell us your horse is becoming more comfortable and letting go of built-up tension.

Every horse deserves to feel their best, whether they’re a performance athlete, a weekend trail partner, or a beloved pasture pet.

Wishing everyone a relaxing Sunday! Give your horses an extra scratch from us today.

I had such a great time at Double K Breeding in Flagstaff working on an incredible group of horses! From talented reining horses to seasoned seniors and young horses just getting started, every horse had unique needs, and it was a privilege to help each one feel and move their best!

No matter the age, discipline, or job, every horse can benefit from equine massage. Whether they’re in the show pen, on the ranch, or enjoying retirement, keeping them comfortable and moving freely is so important.

One of my favorite parts of this job is getting to meet amazing horses and the people who care for them. I’m always happy to travel, whether it’s down the road or across state lines to help your horses feel their best.

If you’re looking to schedule an appointment for one horse or an entire barn, send me a message! I’d love to work with you and your horses.

Whether they’re 500 pounds or 1,900 pounds, every horse deserves to feel their best.

Big horses, little horses, young athletes, seasoned partners, ranch horses, or weekend trail horses. I will work on them all.

Every horse carries tension differently, and soreness doesn’t always show up as an obvious limp. Sometimes it’s stiffness, reluctance to bend, difficulty picking up a lead, attitude changes, or simply not performing like they used to.

MH Equine Massage Therapy can help improve comfort, support recovery, and keep your horse feeling and moving its best.

If you’ve been wondering whether your horse could benefit from bodywork, I’d love to help.
