We had a big weekend with Raeden and C***r at The Big Apple Shootout horse show. It was C***r's first stay away show, second ridden ranch show, and she did her first one handed class. Raeden had his second ever off property experience, first time staying anywhere overnight, first horse show, and many other firsts.
C***r did ranch trail, ranch rail pleasure, ranch riding, ranch conformation, and showmanship. She had never been in such a big environment before, and she handled it all like a superstar. C***r and I were in the biggest division of the show with one of our classes having 33 exhibitors! We didn't end up placing, but I definitely think C***r has a ton of potential for the future. She was such a steady horse for me this weekend, and I couldn't have asked for anything more from her.
Raeden definitely had his baby horse moments, but overall he handled everything so well! Raeden did Halter, Showmanship, and W/T Green Horse Pleasure. He was the best boy for his classes, and you would never know that he was only started under saddle this spring. He got better and more settled each day we were there, and didn't step a hoof wrong in his first ever ridden class. I am probably the most proud of him for his improvement with trailering. He went from refusing to get in the trailer a couple of months ago, to walking straight in both times this weekend. This guy has a bright future ahead of him!
Overall we had a great experience at the BASO and I can't wait to continue training and improving for future shows!
