Chaco is here to remind you: don't forget to drink your water today! 💧🐶
With the late summer heat in full swing, keeping our pups properly hydrated is super important! ☀️ But did you know that standard water intake isn't always a one-size-fits-all?
Here’s a quick guide to keeping your dog safe and hydrated this summer:
💧 How much water do they actually need?
On average, a healthy dog should drink about 1 ounce of water per pound of body weight each day. So, a 50 lb pup like Chaco needs around 50 ounces (about 6 cups) of water daily—and even more if they're active outside!
🩺 The Quick "Skin Turgor" Hydration Test:
Wondering if your pup is dehydrated? Gently pinch the loose skin at the back of their neck/shoulders and let go.
Hydrated: The skin snaps right back into place instantly.
Dehydrated: The skin tenting takes a second or two to flatten out.
🍉 Pro-Sitter Tip for Picky Drinkers:
If your dog isn't big on drinking water on hot days, try making "Doggy Ice Pops"! Freeze low-sodium bone broth or watermelon chunks (seedless!) in ice trays for a hydrating, cooling treat. 🧊🐕

That Friday feeling is finally here! 🎉 But if you're packing your bags for a weekend getaway, watch out—your bags might be subject to a rigorous security check first. 👮‍♀️🐶
This is exactly how I was greeted when I arrived for my visit! Apparently, this sweet inspector needed to do a full-sniff-search of the suitcase right then and there. (I guess she was just checking to make sure I brought enough premium dog treats?) 🧐🦴 We are dying over that nose-first approach!
We know leaving them behind is the hardest part of any trip, but we promise to make their weekend just as much of a vacation as yours. While you're relaxing, we'll handle everything (including rigorous security inspections) to make sure they are spoiled and safe.
No guilt, no stress—just a happy pup waiting to tell you all about their adventures when you get back.

Every dog has their own hilarious little personality. Tell us where your pup lands on these four things:
1️⃣ Bed Hog OR Curled-up Donut? (Do they take up 95% of the bed, or sleep in a tiny, perfect circle?)
2️⃣ The Toy Destroyer OR The Toy Hoarder? (Do they rip the squeaker out in 2 seconds, or gently carry their favorite plushie everywhere?)

Paws take a lot of wear and tear, especially with hot pavement, gravel, and rough summer terrain! ☀️ Since paw pad injuries are super common, here is your quick first-aid guide for treating minor cuts or scrapes at home:
1️⃣ Clean it out: Gently rinse the paw with warm water to flush out any dirt, sand, or debris.
2️⃣ Stop the bleeding: Paw pads bleed easily because they have a lot of blood vessels. Apply firm, gentle pressure with a clean cloth or gauze for a few minutes.
3️⃣ Disinfect & protect: Dab on a little pet-safe antiseptic or diluted chlorhexidine (avoid human ointments like Neosporin unless approved by your vet, as pups love to lick it off!).
4️⃣ Bandage lightly: Put a clean telfa pad over the cut and wrap it loosely with vet wrap or a clean sock to keep them from licking it. Tip: Never wrap it too tight, as you don't want to cut off their circulation!
🚨 When to see the vet: If the cut is deep, gaping, won't stop bleeding after 10–15 minutes of pressure, or if your pup is limping heavily, it's time for a professional lookup.
