A lot can change in 25 years.
Land hermit crab care once commonly meant a tiny plastic enclosure, gravel, a sponge, commercial pellets and a spare painted shell.
Today, knowledgeable keepers talk about deep substrate, proper heat and humidity, marine and freshwater pools, biological needs, dietary diversity, natural shells, enrichment, species differences—and behaviors we were barely beginning to understand when CSJ started.
Some of what we taught years ago has changed, too.
That's important.
Good animal care isn't about defending the advice we've always given. It's about being willing to change that advice when observation, experience and better evidence tell us we should.
Twenty-five years of CSJ isn't 25 years of having all the answers.
It's 25 years of continuing to learn.
