ANNOUNCEMENT from Basic Needs Foundation.

Basic Needs Foundation last day of operations was December 31, 2022.

Thank you for your support throughout the years. Basic Needs Foundation could not do it without your help.

We have started since 2009 and it’s a long 13 years of helping unwanted pets and homeless folks. We spayed and neutered thousands of pets in both Los Angeles and Kern Counties.

Our Board Members are reaching the advanced age (some died). We want to slow down and smell the roses before we exit this earthy world.

Thank you for working and supporting us over the years.

Homelessness can be caused by many factors: Some have lost their jobs and homes, mental disorders, addicts, parolees, abused spouses, veterans and teens. Pets provide a deep comfort. Pets are non-judgmental. They are loyal. They provide warmth and security. The homeless get a type of normalcy by pro...

Bakersfield, CA! Update. HELP HELP HELP please.

Sometimes plans failed miserably and the intended dog is suffered more for a simple reason: no $$$$ for its surgeries! This is our SPECTACULAR failure as a fund raiser!

We need the village donation toward Janine knee cap surgeries.
We just lost a large pledge (we were counting on this) as VIP vet (Dr. Cisneros) will not sign W-9 and not dealing with the third party.

ONE INDIVIDUAL DONOR WILL MATCH 100% up to $1,000.
Please help Janine dog with your donation. It would replace the 2k pledge!

Female dog JANINE needs funding for bilateral knee cap surgeries (orthopedic: Bilateral Medial Patella Luxation), so she can walk without pain. This small dog chance to live a normal life and be adopted is zero, as she is right now!

It will cost $3,814 to fix her knee caps. Whatever amount you can donate is needed.
JANINE is a 18-month old dog, 16 lbs, and is scheduled for a spay this week.

HX: Her senior owner got kicked out of a “residential assisted living”. (X family member of another senior who lived at the same place who reported the multiple, serious health violations to the authorities). The place was ordered to close immediately.
The owner of this “residential assisted living” gave them all 2 hours to move out. The senior owner found a temporary place to live, but without her dogs. The dogs would be dumped on the street. Dog JANINE would not be able to survive on the streets. Some of her puppies were given away.

Our foster Nancie was called by X and told her about dog JANINE. Foster Nancie took dog JANINE in, as she could not bring herself to drop this small female dog to the local shelters, who cannot walk with lame legs without pain. JANINE would be killed immediately at either local City or County Bakersfield Animal Shelter.

Please help dog JANINE with some donations.

“ I am VALENTINE! No “poor dog”anymore. I am now a member of a hiking pack. The hikers will tell my story to other hikers. My foster hiker will take me to different hiking groups to hike & to find me a hiker adopter. Because YOU (one day adopter returned me back to Bakersfield County Animal Shelter), I will excel no matter what. Thank you for sharing my original “poor dog” post. That was how I was saved"

7-month old female puppy Valentine was adopted for ONE day and returned to the shelter. Reason: The resident dogs did not like her.
Valentine needs your donation for her cooling vest, so she can hike with her foster. The weather is not cool like it was before.
She has so much energy: chewing shoes, digging plants, zooming constantly, etc... You get the picture.
We have good luck with adopting pets to hikers, marathon folks. We would like to have her exposed to the hikers. That means she has to go hiking. She has the doggy boots, special leash, and now she needs a cooler vest.

Need DONATION for A 6-month puppy was adopted from Bakersfield County Animal Shelter (Kern County, CA) one day and returned the following day!

She was adopted out INTACT as shelter has no available vet on site. Adopters for this shelter are told to bring pets back for x day of spay/neutering!

This is the picture of her happy face when she did NOT know the "one day owner" is giving her the last ride BACK to the shelter.

How would you feel if you are this puppy?
We name her "Valentine" as we have a plan for her. We need your DONATION.

Basic Needs Foundation is taking Valentine on 2/17/22. She needs to stay at this shelter for spaying on 2/16/22.

Please donate so we can buy supplies, a hiking backpack, non slip collar, grooming, high value treat for training for her to hike with he foster (a hiker) to build up her confidence, doggy manners and gets to know other hikers. We have a lot of successes with dog adoptions to hikers and triathlons.

We want Valentine to have a good life vs risking to be euthanized as this shelter is so CROWDED, or being adopted again with some adopter like her previous "ONE day owner"! We screen adopters for a "lifetime adoption" for our rescue pets.

Update 2/14/22. Elderly dog Bella with blood in urine will see a vet in Long Beach, CA today. Please donate for her vet care. Ty.

A homeless woman with 3 elderly dogs in a hot day with $2.00 for gas at the gas station for a 30- gallon tank! She was beyond stressed!

If she could shoot herself, she would by the expression on her face. It seemed the 3 dogs sensing her “end of the rope”, they licked her face comforting her.

One of the dogs is Bella (biggest dog of the three, white, 11 yrs old, spayed). Bella needs to see a vet asap as she is peeing with blood (hx of a bladder/kidney infection).

We bought her a full tank of gas. Her tears were flowing.

As we looked at her tires, they were bare. We told her to follow us to a discount tire store to get her four new tires.

Discarded the other unfit spared tires that were given to her ( wrong sizes and no rims).

We bought her some lunch while waiting 2 hrs + to get her turn to install the tires (it was extremely busy)!

Her elderly dogs are so well behaved and gentle. They LOVE her and vice versa. We asked her, if she was willing to give up these elderly dogs to the rescue, so they can have better lives and Bella can get treated.

SHE BROKE INTO PIECES! Can a person lose the last love (her pets) she has because she is homeless & living in the car? Can these elderly dogs be able to live without her after they have been together for 10 plus years?

Here we are asking YOU to donate so we can help her dog BELLA medical problems. These dogs are so sweet and gentle.

This middle age woman was the apple of her parent’s eyes, when she was born. Now she is here with no hope, no prospect and the only love she has is not from her family nor the human race; it’s her dogs. We want to help her and her dogs without judgements!

Update 2/6/2022. Congratulations Mailey. ADOPTED
------------------
"I am Mailey from Bakersfield City Animal Shelter. Thank you everybody. Today is my big day to be adopted on a 10-day trial adoption. I will be good to the critters in my new home, so I can stay there forever. My foster packed everything for me to take with, so I can feel confidence and secured at the new home fast.

I knew Kim before as she transported me for the first leg from the shelter. I met her husband Allan too, and he liked me. All I need to do is being real good to the cat and the other dog. I am going to keep up my doggy etiquette that my foster taught me, so I can charm the heck out of this family two and four-leg. Keep good thought for me, please ".

Betty White’s birthday is tomorrow 1/17.

We received a message from one of our previous adopters: “ Ha, my daughter is going to send you some money in memory of betty white. Don't know how she sends it but wanted you to know. Hope her memory lasts forever and we do this each year.”

If you could donate in Betty White honor, Basic Needs Foundation would appreciate very much of your generous donation.
