Kitty Bungalow Charm School for Wayward Cats socializes feral kittens, taking hissy little babies and turning them into purring little lap cats. We believe in force love and provide a cage free environment and one-on-one attention to each feral kitten. Through physical exercises and delicious food bribes, Charm School volunteer teachers earn the trust and love of the kittens, and bring them to the understanding that there is a wonderful human home waiting to give them the love and security they deserve. Upon graduation, these kittens continue to blossom in their new homes growing into the most wonderful house cats a family could desire.

Black cat Spotlight: Billy Goat 🐈‍⬛🐐

At six months old, Billygoat is in that in-between stage. No longer a tiny kitten, but still just a baby figuring out the world around him. And sometimes, black cats like Billy need a little more time for their personalities to shine.

Billygoat is learning that people can be pretty wonderful. He’s started seeking out pets, rubbing against his foster’s legs for attention, and even climbing into a lap for a little cuddle. He’s growing braver by the day, and with patience, he’s showing us more of the sweet boy underneath that initially shy exterior. He’s also living with other cats in foster care, so he has feline company while he continues to build confidence.

We think Billygoat has so much potential to bond with his person and blossom in a home that lets him move at his own pace. He may not be the kitten everyone immediately picks, but we hope someone will see what we see: a little black cat with so much love left to give.

Sometimes, the best bonds are the ones you take the time to build. 🖤

Our Crypto Queen Gracie 👑 has been thriving in foster care! Her nose continues to heal beautifully, and she’ll soon be ready to discontinue her Clavamox, which has helped support her progress. While she still has a ways to go with her ongoing cryptococcosis treatment, we’re so happy with how far she’s come!

Gracie has also become quite the fan of her cardboard scratcher. She loves it so much, she’ll even curl up and take a nap on it!

We’re happily accepting adoption inquiries for this sweet girl. Seeing Gracie settle into her forever home while she continues her treatment would be the dream, and we’re happy to facilitate a foster-to-adopt arrangement so she can keep healing with her future family.

A LOVE LETTER TO BLACK CATS 🐈‍⬛

To the black cats who have been waiting a little longer. To the ones who get overlooked in the kennel. The ones whose photos don’t always capture just how beautiful they are. The ones who have spent too many days wondering when their person will finally walk through the door. We see you.

Black cats can be harder to photograph, especially in low light, which can make it more difficult for their personalities to shine in adoption listings. And outdated superstitions can still influence the way some people perceive them.

But here’s what we wish everyone knew: Black cats are something special. ✨

🖤 Their dark coats can often hide beautiful tabby markings that become visible in the sunlight, and some develop gorgeous smokey or rusty tones when their fur catches the sun.

🖤 Their color tells you absolutely nothing about their personality. A black cat can be cuddly, playful, shy, silly, independent, or a complete little menace. Basically… they’re cats.

🖤 Black is a coat color, not a breed. Black cats can be found across many different breeds and mixes, from sleek short-haired cats to gloriously fluffy ones.

🖤 And black cats have some pretty fascinating genetics. The gene responsible for their dark pigmentation has been studied for its possible connection to genes involved in disease resistance. It’s a fascinating area of feline genetics, even if it doesn’t mean black cats are automatically healthier.

There is no bad luck here. Just soft bellies, bright eyes, silly personalities, midnight zoomies, and an awful lot of love waiting to be given.

So this month, look twice. Because your next best friend might just be wearing all black.

105 cats. One week!

This past week, 105 community cats were spayed or neutered and vaccinated through our TNR program. That means 105 cats who will no longer contribute to the cycle of unplanned litters in their communities. And it means countless kittens who won’t be born into a life where resources, shelter, and care can be hard to come by.

While we can’t intake every cat and kitten who needs help, we can work toward preventing the cycle at its source.

It takes our incredible community trappers, our clinic and rescue partners, and supporters like you who make this work possible. 105 is a big number. But imagine what we can all accomplish together next…
