Why does your puppy chew on EVERYTHING? 🐶🦴

In this excerpt from our NEW Advanced Puppy Class, CANIS Behavior & Training founder Brent LaBrada explains why puppies gnaw, chew, and explore the world with their mouths and what owners need to understand about this normal developmental behavior.

Understanding the "why" behind chewing can help you prevent problem behaviors and set your puppy up for success.

🚨 The MOST IMPORTANT Dog Training SECRETS 🚨

In today’s highly advanced professional training session, we reveal the groundbreaking tips the dog training industry DOESN’T want you to know…

(Yes, this is a joke.)

🚨 How to Create a Leash Reactive Dog 🚨

(Please don’t actually do this 😂)

Never expose them to anything new. Tighten the leash every walk. Have zero control.

This video is satire… but unfortunately, this is how many reactive behaviors start.

Leash reactivity doesn’t come out of nowhere. Dogs need guidance, exposure, confidence building, and accountability to stay calm in stimulating environments.

Follow CANIS Behavior & Training for real dog training education, behavior tips, and reactive dog transformation videos. 🐾

If I could start over with a dog, this is the blueprint I’d follow 👇

• Structured daily routine
• Clear communication from day one
• Intentional exposure to people, dogs, and new environments

Raise your dog with clarity, confidence, and purpose.

Hey everyone! My name is Brent LaBrada, your local neighborhood dog trainer here in the Valley.

I’ve been working with dogs in this community for about 18 years, all starting when I was 18 years old volunteering at the West Valley Animal Shelter. Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to help thousands of rescue dogs find success in homes and prevent many more dogs from ever being surrendered to a shelter or rescue organization.

Over the years, I’ve come to see my role as more than just being a dog trainer. I’m a coach, a problem-solver, and I’m here to help build better relationships between dogs and their people. I enjoy coaching people and their families on developing behavior, trust, and even the overall well-being of both the dog and the owner.

Today, I run CANIS Behavior & Training right here in Tarzana, in the same building where I first started nearly 20 years ago. We’ve grown into a team of 10 professional trainers, with a state of the art facility, helping with everything from puppy training and basic obedience to more advanced behavior issues, as well as service and therapy dog work.

At CANIS Behavior & Training, we’ve built a space that feels like family. A place where you can feel safe, supported, and comfortable being honest about what you’re going through. That openness allows us to truly get to the root of the issue and help you and your dog succeed. We’re not just a training center. We’re your neighborhood team, and we treat our clients like family.

If you’re struggling with your dog, or even if you just have questions, don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re here to help.

Oakley is a beloved member of the CANIS family (best friend to our trainer, Kaitlyn), known for his huge, funny personality and the joy he brings to everyone around him. He’s always ready to make people smile, whether he’s playing with his favorite flirt pole, swimming, leaping as high as he can, or running with his dog siblings. Oakley has grown up surrounded by love and holds a truly special place in all our hearts.

Recently, Oakley has been facing some serious medical issues that aren’t fully diagnosed yet. He’s been experiencing low energy, not eating, and just hasn’t been himself. This is very unexpected as Oakley is only two and a half years young. This has led to a series of emergency room visits, regular vet appointments, and a lot of tests as his family and veterinarians work to find answers. The uncertainty and worry have been tough on everyone who cares about him.

What we know so far - his lymph nodes are swollen and everything is pointing to lymphoma. But as of now due to extremely high calcium levels his kidneys are working less than 75% function so he needs to be hospitalized until we get his diagnosis.

By coming together to support Oakley, we can help his family focus on his health, giving them hope and relief during this difficult time. Every contribution will go directly toward Oakley’s medical expenses and help ensure he gets the best possible care. Any money left over will be donated to a rescue of his family’s choice!
