It is about once you get through the hard part (and very little continuous sleep) of tube feeding or bottle feeding the puppy for the first six weeks or so of its life. So now what? I have a black lab puppy, Sulleigh, that was born on February 24, 2011, and we are just figuring things out. We'd like to gain and give any insight that could possibly help or encourage someone else with a dog or puppy

that has a cleft palate. Obviously we are new at this and I would imagine others are, will be or have been new to cleft palate puppies too. I encourage anyone with a cleft palate puppy to read and re-read the suggestions given on the page for raising these special little guys.

I'm looking to put together some idea on how people got their picky eaters to transition off formula and start eating dry kibble. And also how you successfully encouraged your puppies to drink water—either from a bowl or from a rabbit feeder. I get quite a few private messages about this. Thank you!

I have another little cleft palate puppy that I have been taking care of. Things are going well. But I sure wish there were two to keep each other company, plus not all that much more work! Here is his picture—it's so hard to get a good shot of a black puppy.

Today I am reminded to be thankful for all the people who have helped me raise Sulleigh and gave me hope and encouragement that she could be a normal and healthy and happy dog.

I am also thankful that this page can offer support and help for others with cleft palate puppies. They do all the hard work, but at least there's someone telling them they can.
