Last night I had Wiley harnessed up and ready for a walk when this young couple came walking by with their cute puppy, Penny. She and Dubbs said their hellos on the sidewalk in front of our house and seemed to get along really well, so Nydia asked if they wanted to let the two of them play in our front yard for a bit. The pups had a blast rolling and jumping in the grass. I guess the couple (Dakota and Amanda) had found Penny loose in the street, just a month old and freshly hit by a car about three months ago. She healed from her minor injuries and they decided to keep her. Good choice, she's a super sweet dog that's going to bring them a lot of joy.

All this happened not 30 seconds after another couple and their daughter had just spent a few minutes talking to us over our front yard fence, asking us a bunch of questions about what kind of dog Wiley is. They were getting ready to move to Ohio, to a house with a giant backyard, and wanted to get a big dog that would have a good disposition around their family, and serve as a worthy guard dog. We, of course, recommended they get a Catahoula.

CUCHI

I find myself dipping into the Archive this evening to once again celebrate the life and mourn the passing of another great friend. We recently got word that Cuchi passed away on Halloween.

When Nydia and I moved into our house in 2006, Cuchi came with the place. He belonged to our landlord and she said he was so used to the place she'd let him stay and live with us if we were cool with it. We were, he did and it was awesome. Cuchi was an incredibly cool cat, he and I got along great and I think he liked living with us. He got sick a while ago and needed some expensive medical treatment, so his owner took him to live with her while he recovered and he never came back to live with us. We've missed his sweet cat face and we're so sad to hear he's gone for good.

Rest in peach, Cooch. Thanks for being such a great example of how cool a cool cat really can be.

LALO

I've been meaning to dip into the Archive lately to revisit some old images, I felt this was a fitting start. I shot this picture of Lalo during a trip Nydia and I took to visit her parents in 2007.

We just learned a few days ago that he passed away earlier in the week. Lalo was a cool dog and he had a good long life on the farm out there in Puerto Rico. Rest in peace, little guy.

I was testing out a new flash system in the studio today and got this shot of Wiley. He was all about his Kong this morning, so I started tossing it to him and snapping pictures. This one's definitely my favorite.
