Many people in the dog world are out there saving dogs in different ways. I'm so grateful for my IG friend group that do what they do. There is so much love and friends of mine like who made this dally shirt and part of the profits go to our dear friend to save more dallys. The spots are hearts and I legit keep getting stopped by everyone thinking the shirt is my crazy boy 😂 such a huge compliment because Jackson is just STUNNING!!! Am I right?

Side Eye for days ...

Hope you all had an amazing holiday. We've been in Arizona hiking the desert 🏜️. If you haven't been it's a must in the USA ! Charlie hasn't fully figured out what cactuses 🌵 do, he does know what it feels like SMH 🤷. We did see a wild bobcat in the back yard but headed back to LA ... Arizona we will miss you ♥️ p.s. the side eye is his... I'm done with this let's finish the hike and nap.

In honor of deaf dog awareness week, here is a quick training video on introducing sit. Charlie is a master of sit, He will sit and hold it anywhere anytime👍🏻 if there is something dangerous, he will sit for me... no matter what and I think it’s the most important tool in his box. When ever I get a new dog in for training, hearing or deaf I always start with the basics. Puppy to adult, developing a system and specific sign or voice command and sticking to that system is really important. You will notice once I ask the dog for the command (asl sign for “sit” two fingers over and down on your fist). I wait for the dog to complete the task... full butt on the ground. Then give the “good” command ( thumbs up in ASL). Immediately followed by a treat. If the dog breaks the position, I ask them to do it again, I give the good but NO treat. I slowly start adding distance and distractions as well. This helps them understand the system and learn to not break the position. To release I give “OK” command and make it fun for the dog... treats and lots of affection. That way the dog can determine work/training from free/playtime.
I do this slowly, I say 1,000 repetitions for a reason. Yes your dog may know sit. however I do it this way so when there is a fight at the dog park, a squirrel chasing moment, something startles the dog... they will eventually look to you for direction or stop and sit when you tell them to ( deaf dogs are different and I slowly introduced a vibration collar to Charlie for this reason to look at me... I’ll post that later). Also deaf dog problem. I messed up and pointed to my hip... you can see how quickly Charlie jumped up on me and I can’t say no only reward w a kiss and tell him down and keep moving forward 😂.
I originally wanted to release a lot of videos this week for deaf dog awareness but I will be out of the country for two weeks. I’ll continue posting when I get back. Questions. Comment below...👇🏼🙏🏻
