Persephone marks our very first international adoption! ✈️

She was rescued January 31 2025 from the streets of Watts with a severe case of mange (see last 2 slides). We spent several months healing her skin & stabilizing her. Over the course of the next 1.5 years she had a total of 5 foster homes but for some reason she never had adoption interest despite being playful, friendly to other cats, snuggly, beautiful, and imo perfect. 😩

She did great on the plane to Canada, chauffeured & coordinated by the lovely Laura Brown 🙏🏽 and connected to us through The Crystal Tabby who we are eternally grateful to be partnered with ❤️‍🔥

Her new mama says that she is already in love with her & that she’s been a total dream so far - so affectionate and sweet. We are so thankful to Jenn for giving her the family & stability we know she’s always dreamed of 🥹

🧡 AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION: KNICKKNACK 🧡

This nearly 6 month old lady was part of a 3 pack of kittens intercepted on June 4 in the San Bernardino Shelter parking lot when someone happened to be there adopting a pup. An elderly woman brought in 3 kittens she had found, but the shelter refused intake, as per usual. Our dog-adopting hero Merci Martinez witnessed the situation, took the kittens home no questions asked, with no cat supplies prepared, put them up in her bathroom, and began networking for a rescue for them. These kittens owe their lives to her. We love to see the public stepping up to bat point blank and figuring it out as they go 👏🏼 so of course we were excited to help her out and get them under the rescue!

Trinket & Tchotchke have both been adopted into wonderful loving homes with other cats; Knickknack is the last remaining kitten in need of a forever family. Sharing this post might lead to her human finding her! 🙏🏽

Knickknack is a fearless adventurer 🦸🏻‍♀️ always looking for the next toy to chase or the highest spot in the room to explore. She’s playful, social, confident, and curious, but also incredibly sweet and affectionate. She loves cuddling with her siblings and will happily ask for more pets when attention stops. Knickknack loves people and will rise from her nap to come greet you as you walk in the room. 🥺 She loves getting pet so much that she will start purring before you even pet her to signal that she would like some - then once you start petting her she purrs like an engine and melts into pure bliss!
Knickknack is a wonderful mix of a lap cat and an energetic little hunter in her own world. If you’re looking for a daily laugh, this comedian cat tries to fight her reflection in the mirror. She is so happy and grateful with any toy she gets and will invite other kittens to come play with her. She definitely needs another playful kitten to grow up with! She loves calm dogs & is great with kids.

This ancient toothless calico lady got a second chance at life today thanks to her colony feeder. She showed up for the first time at a large and dangerous park in Los Angeles (keeping the park private for the safety of other community kitties there) back in June, and the daily colony feeder stated that she seemed possibly feeder friendly and would approach for food but wouldn’t let her touch.

With the recent heat wave she was lateral today and really struggling 🥵 her feeder, who said she had great amounts of anxiety about this cat in particular getting the help she needed and hadn’t been able to sleep bc of it, reached out via our website this morning to explain the situation and offered to foster her if we could back her up. We were on a phone call within 20 mins and within a couple of hours she went to the park and threw her into a carrier- she protested minimally with a hiss. Upon arrival I observed a URI, eartip, no microchip, no teeth, and a very unkempt coat (often the sign of a stray struggling to survive outside). We did subcutaneous fluids and b12 as well as some flea treatment and dewormer. She will be kept crated at her foster home & once stabilized we’ll send her to our vet for a senior blood panel & fiv/felv test. She was not totally unresponsive to being pet and even purred a bit while we stroked her head during fluids administration — I wondered aloud when was the last time anyone’s ever pet her, seems possible she was owned many years ago 🥺

Without a foster offer we are not currently able to help as we are beyond full. Thank you to all of our foster families, without you we wouldn’t be able to do what we do! ❤️‍🔥

On June 8 I got a call from the interim housing program manager that we occasionally provide services for, to a unit with an unknown number of cats (there ended up being 8) and 2 large dogs; local high kill shelter was threatened to be called as the program participant was over max (2 pets allowed per unit). The cats were Little Miss (now Petal), Puppy, Church, Semyaza, Half Life, Mighty, Orange Tabby, and Az**el. At that time we were already completely full and I had no open crate space, neither did Donald, nor did any of our recurrent high volume fosters. However, it was a desperate situation so I took home with me the 2 females and Church (he was injured) and promised the program manager I’d be back to at least neuter all of the males, in exchange for them to not call the shelter to remove the cats.
After 3 more trips back and forth to this location I fixed the remaining cats in her unit to help her stabilize her indoor colony. Our appointments were already fully booked out by over a month so we had to squeeze a couple cats in at a time wherever we could, and the clinic helped us get appts when they heard the situation, thank you Peyvand Silverman and Sandy Sagastume! Sadly the orange tabby was picked up by AC and taken to the shelter for destruction of property in the unit 💔. Since starting work on this unit we have also sponsored the tenant’s dog to receive a lifesaving wound repair surgery and he will soon be neutered. Just from spending time at the property I was able to connect with numerous other program participants and fix their cats as well … and TNR some of the outdoor colony cats too- one of them being Glinda!

Az**el is currently in foster care who says the following about him:
Adopt Az**el! He will be your new best friend— a 4 year old black cat that is the perfect mix of high-energy fun and sweet lap-cat affection. Completely litter trained, he loves to play fetch and cuddle. He enjoys looking out the window and loves treats! He is so lovable (will cuddle with you in bed) and ready to find his forever home. He is looking for a nice apartment or home to enjoy and loves to look out the window. Please help Az**el find his forever home! 🖤

These sassy sisters came to us from the streets of South Gate, where they were born at a school that we’ve helped the employees with rescuing kittens from over the past few years. There are very few (possibly none?) resources for TNR in that area so please if you live nearby South Gate and can help these employees of the school with TNR at this property it would be lifesaving! We can help with appointments and coordinating. South Gate is over an hour from us & we are inundated with help requests in our area so the best we were able to offer in this scenario was to get these girls out of there so they didn’t grow up feral and contribute to the community cat population. They have traps set for mom but she still hasn’t gone in.

Rosemary is outgoing & affectionate, automatically loved humans immediately while Paprika was initially more skeptical but now is very receptive to petting and will purr while being touched. We would love to adopt them out as a pair since Paprika is heavily reliant on Rosemary to feel safe. They LOVE to play and climb, they have tons of energy. Would be great to get them a non crated foster home as soon as possible as well. 🙏🏽

In early July we received the following help request:

“I am reaching out to you about 2 kittens I trapped and am fostering. They were born on April 7 to a stray mother cat that another neighbor and I were feeding, along with two other siblings. A few days before May 24, a neighbor’s garage door was broken and left open, and the mother cat took her four kittens into the highly cluttered garage. On that day, when she discovered them, she threw a dozen mothballs over the cats inside the garage to drive the mother cat and kittens out. On May 26, she had the garage cleaned. One of the kittens somehow perished, and the other three were trapped in the garage. The next day, the mother cat was run over by another neighbor in the driveway while she was sad and waiting outside the garage for her kittens and to be fed, with the garage door closed. She then decided to feed the remaining three kittens. I provided food and a litter box. But a week later, she decided to have her garage cleaned again, and another kitten somehow perished. Eventually, I couldn’t take any more tragedy and decided to trap and foster the remaining two kittens. I trapped them and moved them to my house on June 22.
They are bonded siblings: a male tuxedo mackerel tabby and a white-and-black female. They have become very friendly, like to be petted, and come to my lap. They are very adorable and gentle. They are also very energetic and love to play with and chase each other. They have no health problems.”

This foster, who literally saved their lives, has been driving all the way from Paramount to us in Hollywood for all of their routine vetting. They are now 5.5 months old, just under 6lb. Yesterday they were fixed & are now officially up for adoption. Please share to help us find a home for them, together if possible!

We are still coming down from the high that was our adoption event Saturday between showings of 25 Cats From Qatar at Laemmle Glendale! So grateful to have been invited to participate by bringing some of our adoptable kitties!

All of our cats are rescued directly off the streets of Los Angeles and Orange Counties & we are immensely grateful to be able to do all we do for them to get them prepped for adoption and ready for their next chapter. Without adoptions we are at a standstill because all of our crates and fosters are F U L L , but the calls for help do NOT stop coming in all day everyday.

Not only did we get to socialize and meet some incredible people who were thrilled to meet the kitties we brought, but we even had THREE adoptions come from it! Congratulations to Poppyseed, Petunia, and Shawarma! 😭

If you haven’t seen 25 Cats From Qatar we can’t recommend it enough. And if you haven’t seen Mye Hoang’ other original film Cat Daddies then you really have some catching up to do.

3 year old Tomas is in need of a new foster (or adoptive!) home 🏡

He came off the streets of South LA back in April, when Consuelo gonzalez came across him — crying in the middle of the street for food, dirty, thin, and covered in fleas. 🥺

His foster mama says: If you’re looking for an easygoing lovebug, Tomas would be a great addition to your family. Immediately at ease and looking for a lap to hop into, this boy has a short transition time into new environments. He’s confident with humans and would probably also do well with dogs.

He enjoys food but isn’t obsessed, much more interested in chatting about his day (he’s got a lot to say, like any good Siamese) and getting close to you.

This giant teddy bear is okay with being picked up and carried around and will feel so good in your arms! He enjoys being brushed and other bonding experiences. Tomas doesn’t use him claws and would likely do well with kids. His ideal environment is one where there’s usually a human around to keep him company.

He would prefer a household without other cats to battle for your attention with. 🤍

Rafter + Clarence’s mother probably didn’t think it would be the last time she’d ever see her kittens when she stashed them in some rafters in a crawl space under an apt complex in East Hollywood last month, the place she had called home for months, and ran back outside likely to fetch some food for herself.

Sadly she was poisoned that evening 😡 and she was found deceased by her loyal colony feeder, who knew her as an incredible mother to her kittens 💔

Some of the kittens were smart enough to cry for help, but no one knew the grand total of how many she had/should be looked for, and the location was incredibly difficult to access or see anything under the building. In hindsight there ended up being 6 of them. The first 2 caught went to another foster or rescue prior to us getting involved, the next day 2 came to us (Clarence & Esme), the next morning another kitten was heard crying & that’s when Rafter was rescued, and a few days after that one more female was found but she was already skeletal, cold, and anemic- she pushed hard to survive for a couple nights before succumbing and passing.
After that, Esme could not clear her GI issues and was unable to thrive and succumbed as well. The remaining 2 are in desperate need of a foster home 🙏🏽

They’ve been bounced around from crate to crate here as we play musical chairs to make space for everybody. They had some terrible GI issues for weeks and are finally through the woods & healthy, thriving. The longer they stay here crated, the more illness we usually see. Please help us move them out to a foster! We desperately need all of our crate space — the requests for help are endless as we are in peak kitten season. As I opened instagram to make this post I was distracted by FOUR separate help requests DM’s for various litters of kittens, sick singletons, and moms & kittens. All came in within the last hour.

Clarence + Rafter are in the midst of vaccine rounds and they need a clean, cozy indoor space where they can run around and play & continue to grow until we can find them a forever home 🩵🩶
