This Pride Month, we recognize that LGBTQ+ individuals are disproportionately impacted by homelessness and housing instability. Studies show that LGBTQ+ youth make up a significant percentage of the unhoused youth population, often due to family rejection, discrimination, and barriers to stable housing.

At Shelter Partnership, we believe everyone deserves access to basic necessities, dignity, and support. Through our Shelter Resource Bank, we help provide essential items to nonprofit agencies serving vulnerable communities across Los Angeles County, including LGBTQ+ individuals experiencing homelessness and poverty.

As we celebrate Pride, we also reaffirm our commitment to ensuring that all people, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, have access to the resources they need to thrive.

On May 2nd, Shelter Partnership was honored to stand alongside an incredible network of partners at the Altadena Rises Together relief event 💚

Held at Hillside Tabernacle, the event brought hundreds of wildfire-impacted residents together to access critical resources (from financial assistance to essential household items) supporting families on their path to recovery.

Through collaboration and community care, we helped ensure vital supplies reached those who need them most, because recovery takes all of us. 🙌

Periods don’t pause for hardship, and access to basic necessities shouldn’t either.��Our Period Product Drive is underway, and we’re collecting menstrual products now through the end of May to distribute to agencies serving people experiencing poverty and hardship across LA County. In early celebration of Menstrual Health Awareness Month, Shelter Partnership is proud to launch an initiative beginning this April and continuing through the end of May, dedicated to addressing a critical yet often overlooked need.

Our goal is to provide 40,000 period products to menstruating individuals experiencing homelessness across Los Angeles County: ensuring dignity, comfort, and access to essential care for those who need it most.

We’re calling on our community to help us reach this goal by donating funds to purchase essential menstruation items or by contributing new products directly.

Together, we can ensure that our affiliated agencies have the essential supplies to support thousands of menstruating individuals throughout the year.
