Did a relinquished today, drove 3 hours one way to pick this baby up!
Everyone i like you to meet Ziggy he is a Blue and Gold macaw, male between the age 20 to 25 years olf, he wasnt truly planned but his owner called and said this was an emergency. He couldn't take care of him due to personal reason and that he couldn't handle ziggy aggressiveness anymore. He said that with everything in his personal life and with Ziggy, he couldnt take it anymore. So, my mother and I took a road trip to pick him up, on the way back we stopped by Dr Toms and got a full vet check out. Turns out this little guy has a horrible bacteria infection and will be on medication for 5 days. Our vet said by his bracelet he may be older like 40 to 50 but unfortunately we will never truly know.
Yes he fully plucked in the front, the original owner said he couldn't pick him up in years and he was aggressive, yes am holding him but remember we are in the honey moon stage. This is what I like to call the 3-3-3 rule, 3 days to decompress, 3 weeks to get into our routine and 3 months to start bonding. Once he is more comfortable, am sure his personality and his bad behaviors will show but again you truly never know. He may turn into a love bug or maybe not, either way we will accept him for who he is. He got to relax a little in the aviary, due to the long car ride home! Was going to give him a misting shower but it was a little to cold here today.
