This October, Barnhouse Pet Sitting is recognizing several important causes that deserve awareness, compassion, education, and advocacy.

🎀 Breast Cancer Awareness Month Honoring survivors, supporting those currently battling breast cancer, remembering those we've lost, and encouraging education and early detection.

This month holds an especially special place in our hearts here at Barnhouse. One of our very own pet sitters, Bree, is a breast cancer survivor! 💗

John and I couldn't be more proud of Bree for her strength, resilience, and determination throughout her journey. She kicked cancer's ass, and we are so incredibly grateful to have such a strong and inspiring woman as part of our Barnhouse family! Bree, we celebrate YOU this month and every month! 🎀💪💕

💜 Domestic Violence Awareness Month Standing with survivors, remembering victims, and raising awareness about domestic violence while promoting safety, support, and prevention.

Apparently, when Bonnie books with Barnhouse, she expects premium seating. 😂🐾

Bonnie is a regular with Emma and Sean, and during her latest stay she decided there was no better place to plant her butt than directly on Emma’s face.

Personal space? ❌
A perfectly good couch? ❌
Emma’s face? ✅ Excellent choice.

Thankfully, Emma has a fantastic sense of humor and accepted her fate. 😂

Just another day in the life of a Barnhouse pet sitter, where sometimes “loving your clients like family” means being used as furniture. 🤎🐶

💍🐾 The Barnhouse owners are officially engaged! 🐾💍

We have some very exciting personal news to share with our Barnhouse family… John and Devan are engaged! 🤍

Barnhouse has always been so much more than a business to us. It has been something we've built together from the ground up, with a whole lot of love, hard work, late nights, incredible pets, and an amazing community behind us.

And of course, Willow & Luna will be front and center for everything to come. 🐶💍

We don't have an official wedding date yet, but we can tell you that we're looking at late 2027 or mid-2028, so there's lots of time! 😂🤍

And no worries, Barnhouse family! When the time does come, you'll have plenty of notice so we can plan our staff schedules, client care, and a little time away for ourselves. Rest assured, your pets will be well cared for while we celebrate! 🐾

For now, we're just excited to celebrate this next chapter together.

The Barnhouse owners took a little vacation of our own! 🐾🏔️

This time, Willow & Luna came along for the adventure! They weren’t exactly the biggest fans of spending 15 HOURS in the car 😂, but we officially made it all the way to beautiful Flathead Lake, Montana!

And don’t worry, guys, Luna & Willow got PLENTY of sniff, stretch, and potty stops along the way! 😂🐾 We may have been on a 15-hour road trip, but the girls still had important roadside business to attend to.

Lots of snacks, potty breaks, new smells, questionable looks from the backseat, and major “are we there yet?” energy later… WE MADE IT! 🏔️🐶💕

Now it’s time for Willow & Luna to enjoy their Montana vacation and make some memories with Mom & Dad! 🥹🐾

Apparently our clients’ security cameras are now reviewing the Barnhouse team. 😂🐾

We’re used to cameras saying things like, “Person detected at the front door.”

But apparently this one had some ✨ thoughts ✨:

“Beautiful woman… absolutely radiant… sophisticated sense of style.”

“Handsome young man… sharp, stylish… athletic frame… very charming mustache.”

EXCUSE ME?! 😂

At this point, we’re not sure if Home Assistant is monitoring the house or trying to flirt with our pet sitters.

Come for the reliable pet care. Stay because apparently our team is radiant, stylish, athletic, and charming. 💅🐶🐴

Thanks for the confidence boost, Home Assistant. We’ll be adding “camera approved” to our qualifications immediately. 😂

September is Su***de Prevention & Awareness Month. 💜🩵

At Barnhouse Pet Sitting, our work revolves around animals, but behind every leash, feeding routine, farm gate, and front door is a person with a life and a story we may know very little about.

Mental health struggles are not always visible. Sometimes the person who shows up, smiles, works, cares for others, and seems like they have everything together is carrying more than anyone realizes.

This month, we want to remind our clients, our team, our friends, and our community that your presence in this world matters.

And sometimes, when life feels unbearably heavy, our animals give us one more reason to make it through the day. They don't care whether we have everything figured out. They just know we're their person. They wait for us at the door, curl up beside us, follow us into rooms they absolutely did not need to follow us into, and love us exactly as we are.

Check on the people you love. Be gentle with people when you don't know their whole story. Don't be afraid to have the difficult conversations.

And if you're struggling, please stay. There are people who want you here. There are animals who want you here. There is still more of your story to be written.

Say hello to Walnut, one of the newest members of Barnhouse! 🥹🐾

Walnut gets to hang out with us for walks and drop-in visits for meals, and it didn't take long for him to completely win us over. This sweet boy is all about affection, attention, and PLAYTIME. If you're willing to give him some love, Walnut is more than happy to accept. 😂

And then there's his beloved blue piggy. 🐷💙

Walnut LOVES his piggy. You may admire the piggy. You may look at the piggy. You may appreciate the piggy from a respectful distance.

But under absolutely no circumstances may you TOUCH the piggy. 😂

🐔🍉 Keeping cool, Barnhouse style! ☀️🐾

The chickens are beating the summer heat with a fresh watermelon feast, while Willow has appointed herself Head of Flock Security and is taking patrol VERY seriously. 😂🐕‍🦺

Somebody has to make sure no suspicious squirrels, rogue grasshoppers, or unauthorized watermelon thieves enter the premises!

Happy chickens, full bellies, and one very dedicated security officer. Just another day around the Barnhouse. ❤️

Pet sitters? More like animal rescuers… from a bullsnake. 🐍😂

Never a dull moment at Barnhouse Pet Sitting! We found this big guy hanging out inside one of our client’s barns and, admittedly, our first reaction was: “IS THAT A RATTLESNAKE?!” 😳

🐍 Fun fact #1: Bullsnakes are nonvenomous, but they put on a VERY convincing rattlesnake impression when threatened. They can hiss loudly, coil up, and vibrate their tails, which can sound surprisingly similar to a rattle!

🐍 Fun fact #2: Bullsnakes are actually incredibly beneficial to have around farms! They help control rodent populations by eating mice, rats, and other small animals that would otherwise be helping themselves to feed and making homes around the property.

After confirming we were dealing with a bullsnake and NOT a rattlesnake, we safely took care of our unexpected barn guest.

🐴 Horses are safe.
🐔 Chickens are happy.
🐈 Barn cats can safely prowl.
🐍 And Mr. Bullsnake is no longer hanging out inside the barn.

When we say we care for the whole farm, apparently that includes snake patrol too. 😂

And before anyone worries: No animals, humans, OR snakes were harmed during this rescue! ❤️🐍
