Running a farm in the winter isn’t just about grit—it’s about having the right gear in your corner. We wanted to give a huge shout-out to the brands keeping our horses healthy and our chores (somewhat) manageable during this cold snap!

❄️ Our Winter Survival MVPs:
Purina Horse Feed Enrich Senior: Keeping all of our animals in peak condition! It’s the perfect way to ensure they get the concentrated nutrients (and Outlast) they need without loading them up with grain. It is the perfect complement to the full time forage we offer.

Hay Chix Hay Bags: These are game-changers for reducing waste and making sure the horses have forage in front of them all night long. These hay bags are durable and easy to fill.

Wyze Cameras: Peace of mind is priceless. Being able to check on the stalls from a warm bed at 2 AM to make sure everyone is tucked in and cozy has saved us so many trips into the freezing wind.

Pocket Hose Copper Bullet: Lugging heavy, frozen rubber hoses is a nightmare. This lightweight lifesaver makes watering a breeze and actually drains properly so we aren't fighting ice blocks. And the best feature? Oversized fittings that allow water to flow faster than other brands.

🥶 Stay Warm! Winter Storm Update 🥶

With the extreme cold and winter storm approaching, we wanted to reach out and reassure you that your horses' safety and comfort are our top priorities. We are fully prepared to handle the sub-zero temperatures and have several protocols in place to keep everyone cozy and hydrated.

Here is how we are staying ahead of the freeze:

❄️Continuous Hydration: All outdoor troughs are equipped with tank heaters, and indoor stalls are utilizing heated buckets to ensure water remains ice-free and drinkable 24/7.

❄️Encouraging Drinking: To prevent impaction colic during this cold snap, we are adding a small amount of salt to everyone’s feed. This naturally encourages the horses to drink more water despite the chill.

❄️Unlimited Forage: Regardless of the season, we always provide unlimited hay to all horses. Digesting fiber is a horse's internal "furnace," and keeping their bellies full is the best way for them to maintain their body temperature from the inside out.

❄️Continuous Monitoring: We have 11 cameras on the property, including one in each stall. We frequently check throughout the day and night to monitor overall well-being.

We know it’s stressful when the weather turns nasty, but rest assured we are hunkered down and ready to brave the storm with your horses.
